Nurse Manager Role
The primary function of this position is to create and maintain a supportive environment that enables professional nurses to deliver exceptional patient care.
This predominantly clinical role has an educational focus. The Nurse Manager will assist and when needed, deputize for the CNM2 as required, and provide managerial supervision for their department when rostered.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee the allocation of patient accommodation in terms of placement of patients.
* Determine how to organize and plan patient admissions and ensure these activities are carried out effectively.
* Notify the Clinical Nurse Manager 2 of any problems caused by medical staff policies/practices or decisions in the implementation of the bed policy.
* Organize and plan patient care to prevent issues that may delay safe and timely patient discharge.
Collaboration with Others:
* Work collaboratively with hospital departments to achieve agreed targets and objectives.
* Support and supervise nursing staff and other support staff in performing their allocated responsibilities to the required standard.
* Monitor late attendance and unexplained absenteeism, and report to the Clinical Nurse Manager 2 or in her absence, the Divisional Nurse Manager.

* Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based practice and best practices in patient care.
* Engage in ongoing self-assessment and peer review to continually improve performance and contribute to a culture of excellence.
