Role: Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Specialist

Reporting to: Planning Programme Manager
Function: Renewables We are currently looking to recruit three Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Specialists on a permanent basis to join our Renewables team. Based in Newbridge, the successful candidates will play a key role in leading the preparation and delivery of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR) and Appropriate Assessment (AA)/Natura Impact Statements (NIS) for a range of Our clients renewable energy infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the EIA process for major renewable energy developments, including the preparation of EIARs and AA/NIS documentation.
* Provide specialist environmental input to support the planning and delivery of renewable energy projects, ensuring alignment with company strategy and regulatory compliance.
* Monitor and interpret developments in environmental and planning legislation, policy changes, and updates to national, regional, and local plans to inform project direction and support company submissions where relevant.
* Collaborate with the Stakeholder and Advocacy team to design and implement effective consultation strategies with communities, statutory bodies, and other stakeholders.
* Develop technical specifications for third-party environmental services and support the procurement team throughout the sourcing and contract management process.
* Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with our clients Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) policies, as well as all relevant Irish and EU legislation.
* Support the development of junior staff through mentoring, particularly in the areas of EIA and AA processes. Actively engage in the company’s Performance Management process, contributing to both individual and team objectives.
The person:
* The Ideal Candidate Will Have: A Level 8 (Hons) degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline. A postgraduate qualification (Level 9) in a relevant area such as Environmental Science, Engineering, or Planning Law is desirable.
* At least 5 years of experience leading the preparation of EIARs and AA/NIS for large-scale projects.
* Proven expertise in managing multidisciplinary teams for the successful delivery of complex EIA documentation.
* Strong working knowledge of the EIA process and Irish planning law and policy as it relates to environmental assessment.
* Experience in renewable energy and related infrastructure projects, or Strategic Infrastructure Development (SID) projects, is desirable but not essential.
* A technical background in a relevant EIA discipline such as ecology, noise, air quality, etc., is advantageous.
* Ability to manage multiple projects with varying scopes, timelines, and risk profiles.
