As a Product Regulatory Engineer, you will lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of a global regulatory compliance strategy across diverse product lines. You'll work cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and commercial teams to ensure all products meet stringent safety, performance, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and maintain a comprehensive global regulatory compliance strategy.
2. Monitor and interpret emerging international regulations and standards relevant to fire and CO detection technologies.
3. Advise internal teams across the product lifecycle—from concept to end-of-life.
4. Identify regulatory risks and opportunities; implement mitigation plans.
5. Manage end-to-end product approval and certification processes for all global markets.
6. Prepare and submit technical files, test reports, and declarations of conformity.
7. Coordinate product testing with internal and external laboratories.
8. Maintain all certifications, licences, and declarations to ensure continuing compliance.
9. Lead audits, inspections, assessments, and corrective actions.
10. Respond to regulatory inquiries, negotiate timelines, and resolve compliance issues.
11. Collaborate with Quality to embed regulatory requirements into the QMS.
12. Deliver training on regulatory expectations and best practices.
13. Ensure labelling, manuals, and marketing materials meet regulatory standards.
14. Track and assess design or component changes to ensure ongoing compliance.
15. Coordinate recall or corrective action activities where required.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
16. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Law, or related technical discipline.
17. 3+ years' experience in a dedicated regulatory role within a manufacturing environment.
18. Strong working knowledge of global regulatory frameworks: CPR, RED, LVD, EMC, RoHS, WEEE, REACH, UKCA, UL, BSI, VdS, etc.
19. Proven track record managing complex approval processes, including Notified Body interactions.
20. Solid understanding of quality systems such as ISO 9001.
21. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
22. Highly organised, detail-driven, and effective at managing multiple priorities.
23. Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working independently or within teams.

24. Experience in fire-safety or security industries.
25. Experience with global market access strategy.
26. Legal or regulatory affairs qualification.
27. Additional language skills are beneficial to international markets.
