Position Summary

Trinity College Dublin (TCD) seeks to appoint a seasoned Impact, Licensing & Commercialisation Manager to join the commercial team in Learnovate, with the goal of continuing development of the Centre's industry economic impact, Learnovate IP licensing and spin‑in/spin‑out commercialisation funding opportunities.

This newly created role arises from the recent Learnovate team re‑design and will have full oversight for all Learnovate economic impact capture, IP licensing and commercialisation activity.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role and be primarily responsible for identifying and developing business partnerships and opportunities, while also boosting direct and associated investment from enterprises into the Centre. The ultimate ambition is for Learnovate to continue to scale its economic impact on the Irish economy, significantly increase the licensing of the Centre's core research outputs and achieve annual required metrics on start‑up spin‑in/spin‑out opportunities via Enterprise Ireland's commercialisation funding and other funding mechanisms.

This role will drive the economic impact, research licensing and commercialisation strategy for the organization, defining best practice approaches to achieve annual metrics in accordance with Enterprise Ireland funding. The role will standardise and continuously improve processes for economic impact capture, research licensing and commercialisation. The Impact, Licensing and Commercialisation Manager will provide inspirational leadership across Learnovate to ensure rapid and effective responses to industry needs and secure spin‑in/spin‑out funding opportunities. The successful candidate will lead and manage all team formation for Learnovate incubators as well directly support a Start‑Up Executive reporting to the role.

Success in this role will be measured directly by an increased level of industry engagement and the achievement of significant annual KPIs on economic impact, licensing and commercialisation funding. The post holder will deliver on assigned targets for their area of responsibility.

The Impact, Licensing & Commercialisation Manager will report directly to the Head of Membership Services, Learnovate and significantly partner with the Head of Research, Technology & Innovation, Learnovate. They will be self‑driven, have strong technical and business experience as demonstrated by previous examples. They will work with the Learnovate team to coordinate and align Learnovate economic impact, licensing and commercialisation efforts with national and international enterprises, government agencies and start‑ups.

Post status: Specific Purpose Contract

The specific purpose of the role is to capture the economic impact of the Centre, drive IP licensing and commercialisation activity from Learnovate Centre specific research. The role is directly linked to the deliverables of Learnovate's current Strategic and Business Plan. Employment is not offered on an indefinite basis, as the role is tied to specific strategic activities expected to be completed within a defined period. The position is funded by Enterprise Ireland, a non-core university funding stream, which is anticipated to cease within a finite period.

Hours of Post: 35 hours per week

Salary: This appointment will be made on the Senior Administrative 3 Salary Scale (€99,841 - €128,928 per annum) at a point in line with current Government pay policy. monthly/weekly payscales. (tcd.ie)
