Job Summary:
We are currently seeking an experienced Utility Inspector with a strong background in groundworks and civil infrastructure to supervise excavation works carried out in proximity to buried utility assets. This is a critical site-based role requiring a proactive and safety-focused individual who can lead and monitor crews to ensure work is delivered to the highest standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise and oversee day-to-day site operations, including the activities of groundworks crews and subcontractors.
Ensure all excavation, ducting, reinstatement, and associated civil works are conducted safely and in accordance with project specifications, drawings, and regulatory
requrements
Monitor works close to live and buried services, ensuring strict compliance with safety protocols and asset protection measures.
Liaise closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and client representatives to coordinate site activities and resolve any technical or operational issues.
Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings in line with company Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) procedures.
Maintain accurate site records, including daily reports, asset protection logs, and photographic evidence.
Manage and coordinate materials, plant, and equipment to support ongoing site works.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Minimum 2 years' experience in a civil/groundworks role within the utilities or infrastructure sector.
3 previous relevant projects required with application'
Strong knowledge of excavation safety, ducting, reinstatement, and utility construction standards.
Experience supervising works in the vicinity of buried utilities (e.g., water, gas, electric, telecoms).
Ability to interpret site drawings and service maps and communicate effectively with engineering and project teams.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage site teams and enforce safe work practices.
Full, clean driver's license is essential.
