Trails & Tales is a Kilkenny-based day tour company delivering high-quality, small-group and private day tours across Kilkenny and Ireland's south-east. Our tours are rooted in local storytelling, heritage, landscapes, and authentic experiences, delivered by professional local driver-guides.
With the launch of our dedicated Kilkenny City office and an expanding portfolio of day tour experiences, we are now seeking a Day Tours Marketing, Sales & Operations Executive to play a central role in promoting, selling, and delivering our tours.
About the Role
This is a clearly defined role combining marketing execution, sales conversion, and tour operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for actively marketing Trails & Tales day tours, converting enquiries into bookings, and supporting the smooth day-to-day delivery of tours on the ground.
The role is hands-on and varied, with real ownership across marketing activity, customer engagement, and operational coordination. It will suit someone who enjoys seeing ideas move from promotion to booking to live tour delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Promotion
Supporting and executing marketing activity for Trails & Tales day tours
Assisting with website content, tour descriptions, pricing, and seasonal offers
Supporting social media planning, posting, and content creation
Helping develop brochures, digital assets, and local promotional material
Gathering guest feedback, reviews, and imagery to support marketing efforts
Working to increase visibility of Trails & Tales within Kilkenny and the south-east
Sales & Booking Management
Handling enquiries via email, phone, website, and in person
Converting enquiries into confirmed bookings and managing availability
Issuing confirmations, itineraries, and guest communications
Maintaining accurate booking, payment, and CRM records
Day-to-Day Tour Operations
Coordinating daily tour schedules and vehicle allocations
Liaising with driver-guides regarding routes, timings, and guest details
Preparing tour packs, manifests, and operational notes
Monitoring live tour days and acting as a point of contact for drivers and guests
Managing last-minute changes, weather adjustments, or operational issues
Product Development & Local Partnerships
Supporting the development and refinement of new day tour experiences
Researching local attractions, routes, and storytelling elements
Building relationships with local suppliers, attractions, and guides
Ensuring tours remain engaging, accurate, and locally relevant
Guest Experience & Brand Representation
Welcoming guests in Kilkenny City and providing pre-tour briefings where required
Ensuring a consistently high standard of customer service
Handling guest feedback and issue resolution professionally
Acting as a visible brand representative for Trails & Tales locally
Essential Requirements
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
Confident, personable communicator with strong customer service skills
Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, and booking systems
Ability to manage marketing tasks alongside operational responsibilities
Good local knowledge of Kilkenny and the south-east of Ireland
Ability to work on-site in Kilkenny City with reliable access to transport
Self-motivated, dependable, and comfortable taking ownership
Desirable Experience
Experience in marketing, tourism, hospitality, or travel sales
Familiarity with social media, content creation, or digital promotion
Experience in tour operations, transport coordination, or scheduling
Interest in Irish history, culture, and storytelling-based experiences
Experience working with local suppliers or visitor attractions
