Role Overview
The Project Manager is responsible for leading and delivering high‑quality energy assessment and retrofit projects across domestic and commercial building types. This includes producing BERs, Home Energy Assessments (HEAs), technical assessments, renewable technology evaluations, and quality assurance audits.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified BER Assessor with strong project management capability, experience working on SEAI grant schemes, and a solid understanding of retrofit and renewable energy technologies such as DCV, MHRV, heat pumps, and solar PV. Experience in Warmer Homes Scheme delivery is highly desirable.
The project Manager will report to the Energy Agency Manager and will work with the Administration team in the delivery of their duties. We are a small team so Teamwork is essential to this role.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
* Manage multiple energy assessment and retrofit projects from scoping to completion.
* Coordinate resources, subcontractors, schedules, and budgets.
* Ensure all project outputs meet SEAI, regulatory, and internal quality standards.
* Prepare project progress reports, risk assessments, and client updates.
Energy Assessments & Technical Work
* Conduct BER assessments (domestic & commercial) including site surveys and technical evaluations.
* Deliver Home Energy Assessments (HEAs) and prepare detailed technical assessment reports.
* Use DEAP, iSBEM, and other modelling tools to evaluate building performance.
* Carry out or support Airtightness Testing, Ventilation Validation, and relevant acoustic or performance tests.
* Provide recommendations for retrofit measures, renewable upgrades, and energy efficiency improvements.
Quality Assurance
* Perform quality assurance audits on Domestic and Non-domestic dwellings.
* Ensure compliance with SEAI's QA requirements, building regulations, and methodology standards.
* Maintain high levels of accuracy, documentation, and traceability in all assessments.
Stakeholder & Client Engagement
* Work closely with homeowners, contractors, community groups, local authorities, and commercial clients.
* Provide expert guidance on retrofit options, grant pathways, compliance requirements, and energy efficiency solutions.
* Support client journeys through SEAI or other funding applications.
Essential Criteria
* Level 7 qualification in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, Architectural Technology, or Sustainability.
* Registered BER Assessor (Domestic).
* 5+ years' experience conducting energy assessments, audits and retrofit management.
* Proven ability to deliver Home Energy Assessments and technical assessments.
* Experience working on SEAI Grant Schemes (e.g. Warmer Homes, One‑Stop‑Shop, Better Energy Homes, Community Grant).
* Strong understanding of:
* Building energy performance standards
* Irish Building Regulations (including Part L)
* Retrofit methodologies and best practices.
* Proficiency with:
* DEAP
* AutoCAD for technical drawings
* Experience with retrofit and renewable technologies including:
* DCV & MVHR systems. heat pumps & solar pv
* Demonstrable high level proficiency in use of key IT applications, including:
* MS Excel/ PowerPoint
* Sharepoint / Teams
* One Note
* Proficiency maybe assessed as part of the selection process.
* Experience in project financial management, including:
* Cashflow projections and financial planning
* Demonstrable experience in team leadership & Project delivery:
* Mentoring of junior staff and successful collaboration across internal and external resources
* Track record of profitable project delivery and contractual compliance.
· Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable Experience
* Knowledge of SEAI quality requirements and audit processes.
* Experience in Warmer Homes Scheme assessments and delivery.
* Experience in publishing Non-domestic BERs.
* Experience in Airtightness Testing and Ventilation Validation.
* Exposure to acoustic or other building performance testing.
* Previous involvement in EU or nationally funded sustainability projects.
* Experience in iSBEM, and ideally IESVE
