About Us: Northside Home Care Service (NHCS) is a not-for-profit organisation providing vital support to older people and vulnerable adults across North Dublin for over 50 years. We are seeking a caring and organised Day Care Centre Coordinator to manage the day-to-day operations of our well-established Day Centre. This role is ideal for someone passionate about improving the lives of older people and supporting those living with dementia to remain active, safe, and connected within their community. Role Purpose The Day Care Centre Coordinator is responsible for managing daily operations, supervising staff and volunteers, ensuring high-quality, person-centred care, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and organisational standards. Location Greencastle Road, Bonnybrook, Dublin 17 Older Persons Day Care Service (including dementia-specific places). Key Responsibilities Service Delivery & Client Care Oversee daily operations and ensure services are delivered with dignity, respect, and kindness. Support client independence, autonomy, and choice. Ensure personal care is delivered sensitively in line with client preferences. Maintain infection control and hygiene standards. Promote safe dementia-friendly practice. Model positive approaches for clients with behaviours of concern. Staff Leadership Supervise, support and lead the Day Service team and volunteers. Ensure compliance with policies including medication, food hygiene, moving & handling, safeguarding, and infection control. Plan and manage staff rotas to ensure safe staffing levels. Support recruitment, induction, and ongoing supervision of volunteers. Client Engagement & Activities Assess potential new clients with Care Management staff. Promote client attendance and engagement. Deliver a varied programme of meaningful activities and community involvement. Source reasonable prizes/resources for activities. Safeguarding & Risk Raise and report safeguarding concerns and contribute to investigations. Ensure compliance with NHCS policies, procedures, and risk assessments. Records, Administration & Finance Maintain accurate client records, attendance, and stock control. Manage collection of attendance fees, petty cash, and submit monthly finance reports. Maintain weekly and monthly reporting for management. Communication Maintain effective communication with clients, families, carers, staff, and stakeholders. Respond sensitively to concerns and complaints. Health & Safety Ensure a safe environment for clients, staff, and visitors. Adhere to NHCS Health & Safety procedures. Experience & Skills Minimum 2 years experience working with older people and/or family carers. Experience in the day-to-day running of a day care centre or similar community-based service is desirable. Experience supporting people living with dementia is desirable. Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and general IT systems. Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills. Qualifications Full QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare Support (or equivalent). QQI Level 6 Supervisory Management completed or in progress with scheduled completion is essential. Working Hours & Rate of Pay Full-time: 40 hours per week (MondayFriday, 9:00am5:00pm, inclusive of 30-minute lunch break). Flexibility required for occasional Saturday activities (Dementia Café, one per month, 11:00am1:30pm). €18.00 per hour. Other Requirements Garda vetting required. Commitment to confidentiality, equality, safeguarding, and dignity in care. Uniform must be worn while on duty. Flexibility and availability 365 days per year. Performance & Training Participate in performance monitoring meetings and submit monthly KPIs. Weekly attendance reports to Care Manager. Undertake training as required for professional development.
