We are seeking a highly-motivated Social Care Worker to join our team in Childrens Respite, Lavanagh House, Currraheen, Cork. Contract Type: Relief. Contract Hours: Variable Hours. Salary Scale: The current salary scale for this post is €38,107 (€18.79/hour) to €50,953 (€25.12) pro rata per annum. Salary scales are subject to Long Service Increments. This pay scale is subject to increases in 2025 in accordance with the recent WRC agreement towards enhanced pay adjustments in Section 39 organisations. Annual Leave Entitlement: 10.7% of hours worked for variable hours contracts.
Overview of the Post: Lavanagh House Children’s Respite service provides services to children with disabilities in the Cork area, in active partnership and in line with the needs and wishes of the child and family. Our respite services are committed to working with service users and families in the planning, delivery and evaluation of all services. Lavanagh House provides planned short term respite care, both day and night, where children are grouped together by age and interest. Our staffing levels complement the health and social care needs of the children attending respite.

Essential Criteria
Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, Etc.
* Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:
* Hold professional registration, or be eligible for registration, on the Social Care Workers Register maintained by the Social Care Workers Registration Board at CORU.
See list of recognised Social Care qualifications at: CORU website (Health and Social Care Professionals – Education – Approved Qualifications – Social Care Workers). OR
Have a Schedule 3 qualification. See list of recognised Schedule 3 qualifications at: CORU website. OR
Have a comparable qualification recognised by the Social Care Workers Registration Board at CORU. OR
Applicants who satisfy the conditions set out in Section 91 of the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 must submit proof of application for registration with CORU.
* Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Social Care Workers Register maintained by CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.
* Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability, for the proper discharge of the role.
Annual registration: On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Social Care Workers Register.
Experience in contributing to the development of personal plans. Experience and knowledge of the role of a key worker. Experience of delivering personal care to adults. Experience of assisting adults with medical needs/ administering medication. Experience of engaging in professional supervision.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience of working with adults with disabilities including physical/intellectual/ASD/behaviours of concern.
* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
* Experience in taking leadership in the development of personal plans.
* Experience in responding to complaints.
