Salary Range:€60,000 - €70,000 per annum

Who we are:
Through our Support Centre the Mid-Western Cancer Foundation (Registered Charity Number: 20049102) provides a range of psychological, emotional and practical support services and information to cancer patients, their families and carers in a friendly and supportive environment. The Foundation is undertaking an exciting and innovative project to provide a new, state of the art, support centre building in Limerick City.
The Role:
In line with the ambitions and values of the Mid-Western Cancer Foundation, the General Manager will be responsible for the overall leadership and management of the Mid-Western Cancer Foundation Support Centre. The Manager will fulfil a key role in leading and directing the activities of the Centre and to ensure we continue to raise funds to provide holistic care for patients with cancer andsupport research in the Mid-West region.A key part of this fundraising will be to fund the new centre project.
Essential Experience / Skills
1. Previous experience of managing and motivating a team in a client facing environment
2. Previous experience of managing budgets
3. Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with experience of interacting and influencing at senior levels
4. Proficiency in computer skills: excellent working knowledge of ICT applications including Word and Excel and online data management systems
5. Fluency in verbal and written English.
Desirable Experience/Skills
6. Previous experience of preparing and monitoring grant applications
7. Experience of sourcing funding and the prudent management of community raised funding
8. Experience of leading and managing groups of volunteers and contractors
9. Experience of working within an environment where compliance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2009 was required.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Management of Human Resources and Finances
10. Provide effective management, clear direction and day-to-day supervision to all staff, therapists, counsellors, CE workers and volunteers collective known as MWCF colleagues.
11. Motivate and support MWCF colleagues to deliver against overall objectives of the MWCF, Cancer Support Centre.
12. Effectively delegate tasks to colleagues, empowering them to take ownership of their area(s) of responsibility and to share workload.
13. Engage with the team of individually contracted counsellors and therapists, ensuring they maximise their sessions' attendance / targets in line with and actively promote the MWCF policy to increase participant potential and satisfaction of service/support provision.
14. Interview and recruit volunteers, community employment workers, therapists, counsellors and where appropriate to ensure effective training is delivered as part of their induction and/or "on the job"
15. In line with volunteering agreement carry out appraisals to ensure individuals objectives, personal development and fulfilment is assessed.
16. Monitor charity expenditure and costs against agreed budget/funding guidelines and ensure we operate cost-effectively at all times.
17. Ensure that an accountable and robust financial management system is in place in compliance with auditing, financial regulation and Charities Act requirements .
2. Management of day-to-day operations and delivery of service
18. Ensure MWCFis complying with all codes of best practice in cancer support service delivery
19. Monitor and manage resources against the demands of our service, including; staff performance, annual leave, sick leave, facility reception and appointment scheduling
20. Oversee and monitor the scheduling of client appointments, ensuring all operational procedures are followed and appointments are maximised at all times.
21. Ensure the service is run to the highest standards adhering to the MWCF mission, values & policies -e.g. Confidentiality Policy, Fundraising Policy, Complaints Policy, Garda Vetting,Employment, Health and Safety, Data Protection, Child Protection.
22. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all legislation relevant to the service in consultation with the Board of Directors
23. Safeguard at all times the confidentiality of information relating to client users.
24. Oversee the administration associated with the day-to-day operations including staff rostering and payroll
25. Prepare and analyse monthlyfinancial and operations performance reports to monitor:
26. Grant Applications and other sources of funding
27. Budget Tracking
28. Attend and contribute toBoard of Directors' meetings to present and discuss status reports
29. Handle complaints and grievances from clients and MWCF colleagues ensuring a timely response and work within the appropriate policies.
30. Maintain and develop the website content and actively use social media for promotion, delegating actions to staff when / where appropriate.
3. Development of MWCF Centre in pursuit of excellence
31. Working with the Board of Directors actively contribute to:the growth and strategic direction of the charitythe delivery of our business plan, in particular our new centre in Limerick City.
4. Fundraising
32. Provide guidance and direction to the fundraising coordinator and fundraising team to ensure the effective and successful implementation of the MWCF fundraising policy
33. In partnership with the fundraising coordinator, take the lead on the fundraising activities, including co-ordination of volunteers and other new initiatives.
34. Establish and maintain strong relationships / partnerships to promote the MWCF Cancer Support Centre amongst local community and corporate organisations.
35. Assist with marketing and public relations to raise the profile of the organisation's services and campaigns ensuring the integrity of events organised for and in the MWCF name
36. Support the charity's fundraising, services, education and public affairs activities.
5. Other Duties
37. Act as representative to the Irish Cancer Society through the affiliate programme:
38. Contribute to and attend regional and national meetings
39. Prepare required information and statistics
40. Action the good practice statement
41. Fulfil grant application requirements
42. Perform other duties not specified in the job description, but which may be reasonably expected of the General Manager and as directed by the Board of Directors.
