Vacancy: Sales Manager Over the last decade, PhotoIreland has become a key constituent of the Visual Arts in Ireland, leading the discipline and developing constructive channels with a strong network of organisations worldwide. PhotoIreland grows the reputation of Irish artists globally through an ambitious portfolio of projects, and last July, PhotoIreland launched in Dublin an innovative space for the visual arts, the International Centre for the Image. PhotoIreland is now opening a new position for a full-time team member to join our growing company as Sales Manager. This is a full-time position of 40 hours a week, which will occasionally include evening and weekend work. The Sales Manager will oversee sales across a number of commercial operations on and offline, including, but not exclusive to, two bookshops, as well as other income sources such as space and event hires. The Sales Manager will operate and across two locations: The Library Project in Temple Bar and the International Centre for the Image in North Docklands. We are looking for a strategic sales leader with proven industry experience and a track record in sales. As part of our team, you will play an integral part in growing PhotoIrelands sales operations through its art bookshops and other relevant projects, creating a memorable and welcoming experience for customers, managing a friendly and collaborative team, and liaising with Irish and international suppliers, amongst other duties, including day-to-day operations, ensuring high standards in customer service, merchandising display, stock management, and sales performance. Location The position is based across two of PhotoIrelands venues: The Library Project in Temple Bar and the International Centre for the Image in North Docklands, Dublin. The position is based on-site with occasional remote work possible, if necessary. Basic Details Full-time position of 5 days a week, which will occasionally require weekend and some evening work for events and busy periods. The deadline for applications is 5pm, 7 November 2025 Interviews will be held in mid-November. The position will start in late November. Salary €40,000 per annum, paid at the end of each month, with an annual review based on performance. The position includes a probation period of 4 months. Main Duties Reporting regularly to the Executive. Leading and executing strategies to drive revenue, including setting, meeting and exceeding sales targets, maximising profitability. Managing and liaising with a sales team, including managing rosters, training, supervising, and supporting staff as required. Leading daily retail operations to ensure a smooth and efficient customer experience. Delivering excellent customer service and fostering strong client relationships with customers, artists, publishers, suppliers, distributors, and other partners. Managing inventory levels, ordering, and stock control. Handling product displays and merchandising to optimise footfall and sales. Maintaining the front of house and public areas, including tidiness, security, safety of materials, and provision of adequate and updated information for the public and staff. Ensuring smooth and timely deliveries, resolving any issues proactively and efficiently. Developing creative and strategic initiatives, which may include events and marketing campaigns. Being aware of the events calendar and managing the organisation and preparations of the cultural programme. Maintaining a professional and up-to-date online presence via website, newsletter, and social media. Overseeing venue hire. Essential Skills and Experience Previous retail management and senior leadership role experience is mandatory of at least 5 years. Business-focused and sales-driven. Mandatory skills include interpersonal, problem-solving, motivational and team-building skills. Applicants must be organised, reliable, with a proactive and positive attitude. Excellent timekeeping and ability to multitask and report accurately. Confidence and proficiency with sales systems (such as Shopify) and Google Suite. Excellent command of English. A keen interest in contemporary arts and publishing is welcome but not essential. Candidates without the listed essential skills and experience will not be considered.
