Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Commissioning Lead to join our team for a hyperscale data center project in the Nordics. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for leading all mechanical commissioning activities, from planning and documentation through to integrated systems testing and client handover.
This role requires a strong communicator with a hands-on approach and the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders including construction, design, client, and operations teams. You will ensure all mechanical systems are commissioned safely, efficiently, and in line with DECI's quality standards and project expectations.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, plan, and execute all mechanical commissioning activities across the data center project lifecycle.
* Develop and implement detailed commissioning plans, procedures, and test scripts in alignment with project requirements.
* Manage commissioning engineers and technicians, ensuring clear task allocation and technical guidance.
* Oversee the commissioning of all mechanical systems including HVAC, chilled water, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, valves, and associated infrastructure.
* Coordinate with the client's commissioning team and represent DECI during technical and progress meetings.
* Review design documentation, drawings, and specifications to identify commissioning requirements and potential issues.
* Manage the creation, validation, and approval of commissioning documentation, including test forms, check sheets, and reports.
* Track commissioning progress, document system readiness, and maintain detailed reporting to support overall project management.
* Ensure all mechanical systems meet performance, safety, and reliability criteria prior to handover.
* Support integrated system testing (IST) and participate in final client acceptance stages.
* Drive issue resolution through coordination with subcontractors, suppliers, and design teams.
* Ensure compliance with DECI and client health, safety, and environmental standards at all times.
* Identify process improvements and contribute to the continuous enhancement of DECI's commissioning methodology.
Requirements
* Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.
* Minimum of 5–8 years' experience in mechanical commissioning within large-scale data center or mission-critical environments.
* Proven track record in managing and delivering commissioning activities on projects exceeding 10 MW capacity.
* Strong understanding of data center mechanical systems, including chilled water, HVAC, CRAC/CRAH units, and mechanical control systems.
* Excellent ability to interpret technical documentation, P&IDs, and mechanical schematics.
* Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, with experience guiding diverse teams on international projects.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with clients and stakeholders.
* Proficient in using commissioning tracking tools, reporting software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Ability to adapt to changing project priorities and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Willingness to be site-based in Denmark for the project duration.
* Current right to work in Europe is required.
Desirable Attributes
* Prior experience working in Denmark or other Nordic regions.
* Familiarity with ASHRAE, CIBSE, and international commissioning standards.
* Experience supporting integrated testing phases and client acceptance documentation.
* Strong focus on continuous improvement and process optimization.
