Salary €55, - €60, with annual increments
Standard Working Hours; 35 hours per week
A public-sector organisation within the Capital & Estates environment is seeking a Fire Prevention Officer to support fire safety, risk management and statutory compliance across a portfolio of buildings in the Cork & Kerry region.
The Role
You will provide professional fire safety and risk management advice, ensuring compliance with fire, health & safety legislation while supporting staff, service users and the public.
Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct regular fire safety inspections of buildings, escape routes and fire-fighting equipment
2. Develop, review and implement fire orders, evacuation plans and emergency procedures
3. Monitor contractor compliance with fire and safety standards on construction sites
4. Arrange and oversee fire drills, inspections and testing of fire safety systems
5. Investigate fire-related incidents and prepare reports as required
6. Maintain accurate fire safety records and provide regular reports to management
7. Advise on fire protection standards, building regulations and risk assessments
8. Support training initiatives and promote fire safety awareness across sites
Requirements
9. Level 7 qualification (or equivalent) in Engineering, Fire Engineering, Architecture, Health & Safety, Building Services or Building Surveying
10. Minimum 2 years' experience in a comparable fire safety or fire prevention role
11. Strong working knowledge of fire safety legislation and building regulations and best practice
12. High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office
13. Strong communication, organisational and reporting skills
