Job Title: Claims Handler

Reporting to: Financial Controller

Location: Ace Express Freight Head Offices, Blake’s Cross, Lusk, Co. Dublin

Contract: Permanent, part-time, 20 hours per week

Summary

The Claims Handler’s role is to investigate and process claims relating to the loss, damage, or delay, in the movement of goods through the Ace Express network. You will liaise with multiple stakeholders and internal departments (E.g., operations, customer service, finance, warehousing, and transport teams) to gather information and evidence to support claim resolution.

The role will also communicate with customers, insurers, and third parties in a professional and timely manner, to ensure updates are provided throughout the claims process.


Responsibilities

* Receive, investigate, and process claims relating to the loss, damage, or delay of goods
* Liaise with internal departments, customers, insurers, and third parties to progress claims handling in a timely manner.
* Maintain accurate records of all claims, correspondence, and supporting documentation in line with company procedures.
* Assess liability and negotiate settlement amounts in line with company policy, insurance coverage, and contractual terms.
* Escalate complex or high‑value claims to senior management as required.
* Monitor trends in claims activity and provide feedback or recommendations to reduce future risks and costs.
* Ensure all claims are handled in compliance with legal, regulatory, and company requirements.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving claims handling efficiency and customer satisfaction.


Qualifications

* Proven experience in claims handling within the logistics or freight forwarding industry.
* Strong administrative and analytical skills, with a high attention to detail and the ability to review and analyse documentation and information thoroughly.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to handle difficult conversations professionally.
* Strong organisational and time management skills, and able to manage multiple claims cases simultaneously.
* A problem‑solving mindset, with the knowledge of when to elevate information to senior management.
* Competent IT skills, including MS Office and claims or case management systems.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
* Customer‑focused, with a proactive and professional approach to service delivery.
* Resilient and adaptable, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
