UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic are currently recruiting for a full or part-time Occupational Health Clinical Nurse Manager.

Responsibilities
The Occupational Health Department aims to prevent staff illness or injury from workplace factors, assess and advise employees who become unwell or injured in the workplace, and promote health and wellbeing in the workplace.
Provide timely and quality care in the event of workplace injury or illness.
Proactively manage occupational hazards through the risk assessment process.
Support staff in remaining in the workforce after illness or injury by advising on interventions such as reasonable accommodations and phased return-to-work programmes.
Teach and train staff and managers on health and wellbeing support.
Purpose of the Post
To engage in the strategic aspects of a broader workplace health services agenda, including healthy working lives, workplace health promotion and working health services.
The role includes service planning, coordination, and management of activity and resources within the Occupational Health Service (OHS).
Organisational/Advisory
Make workplace visits to identify and control workplace hazards in accordance with health and safety legislation.
Investigate cases of work-related illness or disease and report to the consultant in occupational medicine or Health & Safety Officer as appropriate.
Conduct occupational health surveys and research programmes.
Participate in committees relevant to staff health and wellbeing.
Provide ongoing OH care for employees in the allocated area.
Work with the physician in occupational medicine to establish appropriate standards of occupational health care.
Ensure records of all referrals to occupational health issues are kept and confidentiality and security standards are observed.
The Occupational Health Nurse Advisor Will
Provide input into the development and evaluation of health & safety procedures and emergency procedures to ensure compliance with statutory obligations.
Observe, report and act on matters detrimental to staff wellbeing.
Ensure adherence to policies and procedures (health and safety, infection control).
Complete incident/near-miss forms and clinical risk reporting.
Maintain equipment safety and readiness for duty.
General
Develop proactive relationships with staff and CNMs to promote the role of an effective OHS.
Maintain communication with health and safety professionals and the Health & Safety Authority.
Adhere to professional standards and guidelines relevant to the work of an OHS.
Undertake other duties reasonably assigned by management.
Manage prevention strategies and the care of occupational exposures (OBEs) and follow-up care for healthcare workers involved in such incidences.
Maintain and train staff on Needle Stick Injury Packs, and conduct monthly audits on Safe Use of Sharps.
Maintain a database on OBE injuries and report to the Health and Safety committee and Annual Clinic Audit.
Manage immunization programmes for staff according to vaccination policies and protocols.

Qualifications & Experience
Registered in the General division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives (NMBI).
At least 5 years post-registration experience.
At least 2 years' experience in a management role, ideally in occupational health.
Ideally hold a recognised Occupational Health qualification or be undertaking one.
Professional Knowledge
Experience of case management or condition management programmes.
Experience in an occupational health nurse advisor role.
Knowledge of health promotion in work settings and infection control issues.
Experience of manual handling risk management and stress management techniques.
Experience of occupational health provision in healthcare settings.
