Organisation
Highfield Healthcare which incorporates Highfield Hospital and Hampstead Clinic Services, the "Approved Centre" registered by the Mental Health Commission and Nursing Home Services including the Alzheimer Care Centre registered by HIQA.
Reporting relationship
The post holder is responsible to the Occupational Therapy Manger or Senior Occupational Therapists supervisor.
Job Summary
The role of the OTA, under the direction of the Occupational Therapist, is to assist the Occupational Therapist in providing rehabilitative services to persons with mental, physical, emotional or developmental impairments.
The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of the service user group.
This post will be for working across ALL areas & as directed by service needs.
Working hours: 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday
Qualifications
Essential requirements;
* Possess, or be working towards, a QQI Level 5 Minor Award in Occupational Assistant Theory and Practice or an agreed equivalent.
* Previous experience working with older adults is essential.
Desirable requirements;
* Experience on delivering or facilitating groups in a relatable or similar environment is desirable.
General & transferable;
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to display empathy and an appropriate bedside manner.
* Appetite for learning and personal development and growth
* Effective Administration skills e.g. maintaining records, files, planning and organising
* Ability to understand and interpret written or verbal instructions as well as relay client or patient information to the OT.
