Health & Safety Coordinator Louth Competitive salary We are currently working with a well-established organisation in County Monaghanwho are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Coordinatorto join their team on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave.
This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) programmes, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and internal standards, while actively promoting a strong safety culture and environmental responsibility across the business.
The position is full-time and site-based in Monaghan, reporting directly to the Head of Compliance.
The organisation operates a robust Integrated Management System (IMS)aligned with ISO standards, including ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and ISO 37301.
The Role As Health & Safety Coordinator, you will play a key role in ensuring the organisation meets all environmental, health, and safety obligations.
You will lead risk-based safety initiatives, support operational teams, and contribute to continuous improvement across EHS performance.
Key Responsibilities Ensure compliance with current environmental, health, and safety legislation, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements Conduct and oversee workplace risk assessments, identifying hazards and implementing appropriate controls Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and training programmes Deliver training on safe systems of work, emergency procedures, and EHS best practices Maintain accurate and controlled EHS documentation, including training records, inspections, and audit reports Investigate incidents and near misses, producing reports and recommending corrective actions Monitor environmental performance and support sustainability initiatives Carry out internal audits and inspections, supporting external audits and closing out actions Track and report on key EHS performance indicators, providing insights to senior management Lead safety meetings and actively engage employees to promote a positive safety culture Maintain emergency response plans and coordinate regular drills About You You will ideally have: Previous experience in a Health & Safety or EHS coordination role Strong working knowledge of Irish SHE legislation and ISO management systems A recognised health & safety qualification (NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent)Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)A full driving licence The ability to set, monitor, and achieve clear EHS targets Desirable (but not essential)Environmental qualifications (e.g.
Waste Legislation and Compliance)Training or instructional qualifications (e.g.
