About the Role

The Great Southern Killarney is seeking an experienced, motivated and detail-driven Housekeeping Executive to join our Accommodation team. This is a key operational role within the hotel, responsible for supporting the Accommodation Team in delivering exceptional standards of cleanliness, presentation and guest comfort throughout the property.

The ideal candidate will be hands-on, approachable and calm under pressure, with a strong ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, luxury hotel environment while consistently maintaining the highest standards.

Job Overview

Working closely with the Accommodation Manager and other operational managers, the Housekeeping Executive will oversee the daily operations of the Housekeeping department. This includes supervising staff, planning room allocations, conducting inspections, managing stock and linen levels, ensuring compliance with hygiene and health & safety standards and contributing to an outstanding guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

Operational & Standards

* Support the day-to-day management of the Housekeeping department, including guest bedrooms, public areas and back-of-house spaces.
* Ensure all areas of the hotel consistently meet the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation.
* Carry out detailed room and public area inspections and ensure corrective actions are completed promptly.
* Ensure all maintenance issues are reported, recorded and followed up prior to releasing rooms back to Front Office.
* Maintain full knowledge of hotel hygiene, health & safety and fire safety regulations and ensure compliance at all times.

People & Leadership

* Supervise, lead and motivate the Housekeeping team in conjunction with the Team Leads.
* Train new and existing team members in line with departmental SOPs and training manuals.
* Monitor staff performance in a supportive and professional manner, ensuring consistency and accountability.
* Lead by example with a hands-on, professional and approachable management style.

Planning & Coordination

* Plan and allocate rooms and work schedules to housekeeping staff in line with occupancy levels and business demands.
* Issue and collect keys, room lists, checklists and cleaning schedules at the beginning and end of each shift.
* Liaise closely with Front Office regarding room status, VIP arrivals, special requirements and room moves.
* Communicate effectively with Maintenance, Laundry and other departments to ensure smooth daily operations.

Stock & Cost Control

* Monitor and maintain appropriate stock levels of linen, towels, amenities and cleaning supplies.
* Assist with ordering, stock rotation and inventory control to minimise waste and control costs.
* Ensure correct usage of chemicals, equipment and energy in line with hotel sustainability and waste practices.

Guest Experience

* Actively contribute to guest satisfaction by ensuring high standards and responding professionally to guest requests or issues.
* Maintain strong awareness of daily arrivals, VIPs and special guest requirements.
* Ensure the Accommodation department positively impacts the overall guest journey.

General Duties

* Carry out ad hoc cleaning or operational duties as required by management.
* Observe safe working practices and ensure all staff follow health & safety procedures.
* Support Duty Management or cross-departmental operations as required.

Role Requirements

* Minimum 3–4 years' experience in a supervisory or executive housekeeping role within a 4 or 5 hotel environment**.
* Strong operational knowledge of housekeeping standards, procedures and inspections.
* Excellent leadership, organisational and time-management skills.
* High attention to detail with a strong commitment to excellence and cleanliness.
* Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure in a busy operational environment.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to lead multicultural teams.
* Fluent English (written and verbal).
* Energetic, friendly, professional and well-groomed with a positive attitude.
* Flexible and reliable, with the ability to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays.
