Job Purpose
The Content Manager will lead and own the creative content vision across all brand communication touchpoints, including social media, website, CRM/newsletters, and printed collateral, for Dean Group. Working closely with the VP of Brand & Marketing and guided by the group brand strategy, this person will execute and continually evolve our creative and editorial strategy to boost engagement, elevate brand storytelling, and contribute to measurable commercial goals.
This role manages content for the entire Dean Group portfolio, which is growing rapidly and includes over ten hotels, dozens of F&B outlets, and a fitness brand. The Content Manager will oversee all creative output, ensuring it’s cohesive, on-brand, and contributes to building a strong global identity.
They will manage a growing creative team (including but not limited to a Social Media Coordinator and Graphic Designer), ensuring all content (written, visual, and motion) is high-quality, on-brand, effective, and delivered on time. A strong storyteller and editor at heart, the Content Manager will oversee tone of voice, copy quality, and creative direction across channels, ensuring Dean Group’s content is as sharp in words as it is in visuals.
Key Areas
Content Strategy & Creative Vision
* Define and develop a content strategy aligned with overall brand and business objectives across all key channels (social media, website, CRM/email, and print).
* Collaborate with the VP Brand & Marketing to refine and safeguard the brand’s written identity, ensuring messaging is engaging, authentic, and aligned with our voice.
* Manage & evolve content themes, storytelling narratives & style guidelines for social channels, ensuring brand consistency across all external-facing content.
* Stay ahead of creative/visual trends, platform best practices (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.), emerging formats, tools & technologies to keep content fresh, relevant, and competitive.
* Translate strategy into content calendars ensuring all types of content are well planned and supporting on the delivery of aligned activity as outlined in the annual brand plans.
Content Creation & Oversight
* Working with the in-house Graphic Designer & Social Media Coordinator, and potentially external creative agencies or freelances, oversee the creation of all social media graphics, posts, short-form video / motion graphics, animations, layouts, campaign visual assets, infographics etc.
* Write, edit, and proof key copy when needed, from headlines to campaign taglines, email subject lines to long-form storytelling pieces.
* Provide art direction and creative feedback to ensure assets are on-brand, visually consistent, of high quality, and adapted appropriately for each platform.
* Collaborate with Digital and CRM teams to create compelling, conversion-driven content that enhances user journeys and reinforces the Dean brand experience online.
* Maintain QA/visual standards: colours, typography, imagery, layouts, consistency with brand identity.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
* Manage, mentor, and guide their team on their work output, setting clear goals, reviewing creative work, and supporting creativity to develop the team into a world-class creative function.
* Coordinate workload, timelines, and capacity, ensuring efficient processes from brief through to delivery.
* Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Brand, Digital, F&B, Ops and others as relevant, to understand briefs, objectives, deliverables, and ensure creative alignment.
* Manage freelancers / external vendors or production partners when scale or specialist skills are required; this includes managing their time, budgets and quality.
Performance & Analytics
* Monitor performance of content (engagement, reach, conversion, etc.), working with content analytic tools to understand what’s working and what isn’t.
* Use insights to evolve creative and editorial strategy; optimising both copy and visuals based on audience response and business results.
* Advise on content strategy & creative approaches based on data, trend insights, audience feedback.
* Set KPIs and targets for content performance, reporting regularly to VP Brand & Marketing, the wider Marketing function and wider senior leadership.
Process & Budget Management
* Oversee creative content production workflows at all stages, including briefs, revisions, approvals, scheduling, publishing.
* Ensure timelines are met, resources are used efficiently, and prioritisation of content aligned with business and campaign priorities.
* Manage content budgets (where applicable), including external agency, freelancer costs and others as they arise.
Preferred Experience
* 5+ years experience in a senior creative/content role with a proven track record on delivering high-quality social media content & graphic output that moves the needle.
* Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills — from short-form captions and taglines to web copy, newsletters, and long-form editorial.
* Strong creative portfolio showcasing best-in-class social output, visual design, and other content formats.
* A strong understanding of brand tone of voice and the ability to adapt writing style across audiences and formats.
* Deep understanding of social media platforms, algorithms, best practices, emerging content formats and developing trends.
* Strong art direction skills, including the ability to communicate feedback, provide visual critique, strong eye for visual detail, and aesthetic consistency.
* Excellent team leadership skills, including experience managing small creative teams (or direct reports) and working with external agencies/freelancers.
* Solid project management skills: content planning, scheduling, quality control approaches, etc.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to present, pitch and influence on creative concepts & rationale to stakeholders.
* Proficiency in relevant content tools: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), motion/animation tools (After Effects or similar), and other standard content management/social tools.
