Job Summary
We are currently seeking a
Commercial Accountant
to join our team at
Bunzl Ireland
. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on turning data into meaningful insights and building strong relationships that translate those insights into action. You will work closely with the Finance Business Partner, Commercial Director, and Sales Directors to analyse business performance, develop creative and commercial solutions, and help make our businesses as profitable as possible.

Key responsibilities
Reporting
* Sales and margin reporting
* Dashboard design and maintenance
* Customer service reporting
* Order efficiency KPIs
* Review, reporting, and improvement of credit note KPIs
* Creating and managing customer reports
* Creating and managing supplier sales reports
Overhead Accounting
* Support the Finance Business Partner in creating budgets and forecasts for Sales & Marketing overheads
* Prepare the Sales & Marketing overheads section of the Profit & Loss
* Staff expenses management
* Car fleet management
* Manage sales team commissions
* Marketing income accounting, including balance sheet reconciliations
Margin
Support the Finance Business Partner by:
* Analysing data and developing creative ideas to increase sales and margin
* Monitoring the performance of margin improvement campaigns
* Monitoring and reporting on annual price increase performance
* Maintaining and paying customer rebates
* Processing pricing credits and customer refunds
* Reconciling margin
* Analysing discrepancies in pricing or costs
* Sanity system invoicing
* Price/mix margin variance analysis
Balance Sheet
Support the Finance Business Partner to:
* Manage clearance stock and coordinate sell-out
* Reconcile customer rebates control accounts
* Reconcile ShipThru control accounts
Budgeting & Forecasting
* Support the Finance Business Partner in creating sales and margin targets and the sales team budget
* Liaise with Inventory and Sales teams on forecasting performance
Business Partnering
Support the Finance Business Partner to carry out:
* Customer profitability reviews
* Elimination of unprofitable business and improvement of customer profitability
* Identification of unprofitable processes and leading business change
* Cost-to-serve calculations for new business and tenders
* Finance for Non-Finance Managers training
* Management meeting preparation
* Sector meeting preparation
* New business / War Room tracking
* Business commentary and insights for Sales & Commercial teams
* Bespoke stock risk assessments
Qualifications and Experience
* Studying towards a recognised accountancy qualification
* A minimum of
1 year's
practical experience in a finance role
* Proven ability to produce clear improvements or actions from data and analysis
Technical Skills
* Very strong Microsoft Excel skills are essential
* Experience working with reporting or analytical software is desirable (Bunzl uses Microsoft Power BI, Salesforce, and ProDiver)
* Experience working with an ERP system
* Experience using AI tools (Bunzl uses Copilot)
