The Alzheimer Society of Ireland (ASI) is a national non-profit organisation that provides dementia-specific services and supports, advocates for the rights and needs of people living with dementia and their carers, and works to ensure people with dementia are not孤独 in Ireland. ASI is person-centred, rights-based and grassroots-led, with the voice of the person with dementia and their carer at its core.
We are recruiting a Care Worker for our Wexford Home Care Service located at Unit2, Main Street, Riverchapel, Gorey, County Wexford Y25 W8K3. This is a permanent contract for 28 hours per week. Reporting to the Home Care Co-ordinator, Care Workers provide person-centred care to people with dementia and address their needs to enhance their quality of life.

Reports to: Home Care Co-ordinator
Responsibilities
* Provide person-centred care to people with dementia and support that enhances quality of life.
* Assist in assessment and updating of care plans for each client, and carry out care plan activities.
* Provide personal care as needed (meals, toileting, bathing, etc.) and report observations in a timely manner.
* Respect the rights, dignity and confidentiality of all clients.
* Identify and develop activities to enhance the quality of care in consultation with the line manager.
* Assist clients and their carers in dealings with other service providers in the community.
* Adhere to health and safety policies and maintain service records as directed.
* Promote a positive and safe environment and bring concerns to the Home Care Co-ordinator’s attention.
* Attend training opportunities and maintain routine contact with the Home Care Co-ordinator, including team and one-to-one meetings.
* Demonstrate flexibility to respond to additional responsibilities as required.
Requirements
* Education: Leaving Certificate or equivalent; FETAC Level 5 desirable.
* Experience: Desirable experience in health, social or disability care; experience with people with dementia, older people, or intellectual disabilities is valued.
* Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; good organisational and observational skills; ability to work as part of a team; training in dementia or elderly care is desirable.
* Behaviours: Patience, empathy, reliability, flexibility and enthusiasm.
