Role / Department
As part of the Custody Tax Operations team, the Tax Analyst is at the centre of the International withholding tax processing. Reporting to the Team Leader, responsibilities include ensuring that team requests, records and manages Northern Trust’s client tax documentation, and accurately identifying, processing and tracking opportunities for the reduction of withholding tax on behalf of Northern Trust7s global client base. The role requires responding quickly and professionally to inquiries in an accurate and timely manner with a focus on continually improving service to clients.
Responsibilities
Take on assigned tasks from the Team Manager and Team Leader
Process, scan, record, distribute and file large volumes of documentation received by the team on a daily basis
Review the work of others
Provide training and control reporting as needed
Handle complex queries and refer complicated issues to a higher level specialist and/or regional tax team as needed
Respond promptly and appropriately to general queries received from clients, custodians and Relationship Managers
Work closely with relevant contacts within the scope of the process and with clients to provide the best possible service, responding to queries and escalating as appropriate
Be aware of all service level agreements in place
Continuously meet and exceed the expectations and requirements of all clients
Review processes and procedures to ensure tasks are completed efficiently to a high standard
Skills / Qualifications
Bright, articulate and entrepreneurial with a demonstrated ability to navigate obstacles, work under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines in a fast-moving business environment
Demonstrated client servicing capabilities and excellent communication skills
Resilient to pressure with the ability to adapt quickly
Accuracy and attention to detail at all times
Numerically competent with strong problem solving and analytical skills
Good core IT skills – Adobe, Excel, MS Office, Word, etc.
Ability to work within a team environment
