About the role
A large, multi-site food manufacturer is hiring a Graduate Environmental Officer to support site compliance, energy and water management, and broader sustainability goals. You will join an experienced team with a clear path to progress into a Site Environmental Officer role.
What you will do
* Monitor the on-site wastewater treatment plant and daily environmental parameters under the EPA licence.
* Ensure sampling programmes for discharges are completed and documented.
* Interpret energy and water data to spot trends and improvement opportunities.
* Drive carbon footprint reduction through capex projects and continuous improvement.
* Partner with Engineering and Production on day-to-day operations and sustainability actions.
* Collaborate with Group Sustainability on site initiatives and reporting.
* Maintain environmental, waste and energy documentation and coordinate audits.
* Liaise with regulators, including EPA engagements and potential site audits.
* Manage noise and pollution control on site.
* Identify and deliver water and energy reduction projects.
* Present site sustainability performance to senior management.
* Support retention of ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 certifications.
What you bring
* Third level qualification in Environmental Science, Ecological and Plant Science, Environmental Engineering, Geography, Geophysics or Chemistry.
* Genuine interest in sustainability, compliance and environmental management.
* Comfortable analysing datasets and communicating insights clearly.
* Strong organisation, attention to detail and follow through.
* Collaborative approach with the confidence to work across Operations, Engineering and Group functions.
