Wholesale Commercial Manager - Dublin
Our client is seeking an experienced Wholesale Commercial Manager to lead and develop a high-performing new business team, with a clear focus on driving sustainable revenue growth and strengthening wholesale trading performance.
This is a senior leadership role combining team management, sales execution, market engagement, and operational oversight. The successful candidate will take full ownership of the wholesale new business function, ensuring strong pipeline delivery, improved conversion performance, and scalable processes to support long-term growth.
This role will suit a commercially driven insurance professional who thrives in a target-led environment and has a proven ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing teams while maintaining strong relationships across brokers and insurer markets.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop a wholesale new business team to deliver on monthly and annual revenue targets
Take ownership of the end-to-end new business pipeline, from opportunity generation through to placement and handover
Drive conversion performance through structured sales management, coaching, and clear performance oversight
Embed strong sales disciplines, including pipeline management, forecasting, and conversion tracking
Establish clear accountability across activity levels, targets, and delivery outcomes
Maintain high-quality pipeline visibility, reporting accuracy, and forecasting across all opportunities
Manage opportunities through a disciplined funnel, identifying bottlenecks and improving trading efficiency
Use data, performance metrics, and market insight to inform decision-making and resource planning
Enhance the broker experience through consistent, responsive, and high-quality engagement
Act as a senior escalation point to support positive commercial outcomes where required
Strengthen market reputation through strong trading standards and relationship management
Build and maintain strong relationships with underwriters, insurer partners, and London Market stakeholders
Develop effective placement strategies balancing speed, pricing, and coverage quality
Share market intelligence and trading insights across the wider business
Develop technical, commercial, and behavioural capability within the team
Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and development
Support succession planning and talent development across the wholesale function
Identify opportunities to improve workflows, operational processes, and overall trading effectiveness
Work closely with Operations, Compliance, and Finance to support scalable growth
Contribute to wider business strategy and leadership initiatives
Candidate Profile
Proven experience leading trading, wholesale, or new business teams within the insurance market
CIP qualified, with progression towards ACII or MDI advantageous
Minimum 8 years' experience across commercial broking, wholesale broking, underwriting, or trading environments
Strong track record of delivering new business growth and managing high-performing sales pipelines
Strong understanding of the Irish insurance market, with UK or London Market exposure an advantage
Excellent technical knowledge across commercial insurance products and placement strategies
Experience working with London Market capacity is highly desirable
Highly commercial, with strong data-driven decision-making capability
Proven ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing teams
Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
Experience with broking systems and reporting tools (Acturis, Power BI or similar advantageous)
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, target-driven environment with a strong focus on execution and delivery
