We are partnering with a Galway based client who are looking to hire a Head of Engineering to join their team. The Head of Engineering is responsible for leading all engineering, maintenance, utilities, facilities and capital project activities on site. The role ensures a safe, reliable and GMP-compliant manufacturing environment while driving equipment performance, site improvements, and long-term engineering excellence.
Responsibilities
1. Lead the site engineering and technical services strategy.
2. Manage teams across maintenance, utilities, calibration, projects, facilities, and automation.
3. Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
4. Ensure all systems and equipment meet GMP and regulatory standards.
5. Support regulatory inspections and maintain engineering procedures.
6. Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve reliability and minimise downtime.
7. Drive improvements in OEE and equipment performance.
8. Lead the CAPEX portfolio, including major site expansion projects.
9. Manage design, construction, commissioning, qualification, and handover activities.
10. Manage budgets and oversee contractors, vendors, and external partners.
11. Oversee facilities, utilities, cleanrooms, buildings, and grounds.
12. Support sustainability and energy-efficiency initiatives.
13. Lead automation and digitalisation efforts, including MES and data integrity.
14. Ensure cybersecurity across control systems and automation platforms.
15. Manage engineering budgets, KPIs, and team performance.
16. Develop and grow engineering talent and succession plans.
Requirements
Essential
17. Degree in Engineering.
18. 10+ years of leadership experience in GMP or regulated manufacturing.
19. Strong knowledge of EU GMP and regulatory requirements.
20. Proven experience in maintenance strategy and CAPEX project management.
21. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
22. Ability to lead change and make data-driven decisions.
Desirable
23. Master's degree or Chartered Engineer status.
24. Experience with Lean, TPM, or Six Sigma methodologies.
25. Exposure to automation, controls, or digital transformation projects.
