Senior Occupational Therapist
The Senior Occupational Therapist will deliver high-quality, family-centered occupational therapy services to children and young people (0-18 years) with complex needs associated with physical, sensory, intellectual, or
neurodevelopmental disabilities, within an interdisciplinary framework. The therapist will also provide clinical leadership, support service development, and mentor junior staff and students within the CDNT in West Clare.
Key Responsibilities of Senior Occupational Therapist
* Manage a caseload of children and young people with a range of complex developmental needs (including ASD, physical disability, intellectual disability).
* Carry out advanced assessment and intervention planning using evidence-based occupational therapy approaches.
* Collaborate closely within an interdisciplinary team (including SLT, PT, Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, etc.) to deliver integrated care plans.
* Develop and deliver individualised and group-based occupational therapy interventions focusing on functional skills, sensory processing, motor development, activities of daily living (ADLs), and participation goals.
* Apply best practice models such as the Family-Centered Practice Model, and contribute to the Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) process.
* Provide supervision, mentoring, and support to basic grade occupational therapists and OT students.
* Lead and participate in clinical audits, service evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives within the CDNT.
* Offer support, guidance, and training to families, caregivers, and schools to promote inclusion and independence for children.
* Maintain high-quality, accurate clinical records and reports, adhering to GDPR and local service policies.
* Actively engage in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and maintain professional registration with CORU.
Essential Requirements of Senior Occupational Therapist
* Hold an Occupational Therapy qualification recognised by CORU.
* CORU registration as an Occupational Therapist.
* Minimum 3 years full-time post-qualification experience, with significant experience working with children and young people.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the assessment and management of children with a variety of developmental disabilities.
