We are seeking an experienced Electronic Design Engineer to join our Electronics and Software Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, validation, and support of electronic hardware solutions across our product range. This is an exciting role within a high growth industry where you will have the opportunity to use and develop your skills with a design team developing innovative products for the agricultural sector. This position will be based in our Headquarters in Co Galway.Key duties and Responsibilities • Design and develop digital electronic circuits and embedded hardware systems, incorporating microcontrollers, power management (SMPS, linear regulators), communication interfaces (RS232, CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C), and digital signal processing components.• Support designs operating on both low-voltage and Mains 230V systems.• Create detailed schematics using ECAD tools (e.g. Altium, DipTrace, or similar), working closely with PCB layout designers to ensure optimal signal integrity, thermal performance, EMC compliance, and manufacturability.• Research, select, and qualify electronic components based on performance, cost, availability, and lifecycle, performing component validation and alternate component analysis.• Support and approve Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and supplier change approvals.• Develop and execute Hardware Acceptance Test (HAT) plans, carrying out functional testing, EMC/EMI testing, signal integrity analysis, and environmental testing.• Debug and resolve hardware issues using oscilloscopes, and other industry-standard test equipment.• Collaborate with software, mechanical, safety, production, and validation teams to integrate electronic hardware into complete systems.• Support prototype builds, testing, pilot production, and transition to manufacturing.• Create and maintain technical documentation including design specifications, schematics, BOMs, test and validation reports• Ensure designs comply with relevant safety standards, EMC/EMI regulations, and applicable industry requirements.• Stay informed on emerging technologies and best practices in electronics design, identifyingopportunities for design optimisation, robustness improvements, and cost reduction.Desired Skills and Experience • Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.• 3–7 years' experience in electronic hardware design and development.• Experience in embedded systems, ideally in industrial, automotive, or similar regulatedenvironments.• Good working knowledge of: Microcontrollers and embedded architectures, communication protocols, power electronics fundamentals, measurement, and protection circuits• Hands-on experience with hardware testing and debugging.• Familiarity with EMC/EMI requirements and compliance processes• Experience with ECAD tools and understanding of PCB layout principles.• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organisational skills.• Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a team.• The position requires a strong candidate who can demonstrate initiative, innovation, and drive to succeed within a fast-paced environment.
