Lead Environmental Health and Safety Expert
The role of Lead Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Expert is critical in ensuring the well-being of employees, protecting the environment, and maintaining compliance with relevant legislation. This position oversees day-to-day operations, manages a team of two individuals, and collaborates closely with the EHS Manager to drive safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and oversee the EHS department's daily activities, including regular reviews and updates of risk assessments, safe operating procedures, work instructions, and site safety statements.
* Monitor and analyze incident reports and safety metrics to compile and present daily performance statistics to the operations team.
* Support managers in developing and implementing corrective actions and conduct safety inspections to identify areas for improvement.
* Lead the internal audit program, generate reports, and coordinate with department representatives to ensure timely close-out of findings.
* Identify opportunities for safety performance improvement and support the development of site-wide EHS initiatives in collaboration with the EHS Manager.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to clearly explain safety procedures across all levels of the organization.
* Proven experience managing a team, able to hit the ground running, and hold a level 8 qualification in H&S or a related discipline.
* Hold Manual Handling Instructor certification, Train the Trainer qualification, Occupational First Aid certification, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHS-related software platforms.
* Self-motivated, capable of working independently and as part of a cross-functional team, with good attention to detail, administrative, reporting, and literacy skills.
* Able to undertake some travel.
