We seek a dynamic and motivated individual with the necessary skills and experience to identify mosquito species from larvae and water using DNA barcoding, involving conventional PCR, Sanger Sequencing, and Bioinformatic Analysis. The role also involves testing eDNA samples for mosquito presence using qPCR and mapping identified samples with GIS. The candidate should have ecological fieldwork experience and the innovation to design novel mosquito trapping methods for a pilot study.
The role requires an experienced research assistant with expertise in DNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA sequencing, sequence analysis, and bioinformatics. Field experience in developing surveillance approaches, GIS skills, report writing, and manuscript preparation are also necessary.
The candidate will join a research team at SETU collaborating with University College Dublin (UCD), DAFM, and the National Museum of Ireland. Good communication skills and teamwork are essential.
