Galway SPCA is seeking a part-time Fundraiser & Community Engagement Officer to help grow income in support of the care and welfare of our animals.
We are looking for someone who can build on our existing fundraising activities, strengthen them, and develop new ways to raise vital funds to support the charity. Ideally, you will have previous experience of fundraising in a similar sector, but most importantly, you can demonstrate a proven track record of success in this field. Fundraising in Ireland is a key component to the success of any charity and, as such, the individual we are looking for will need to be determined and resilient.
An understanding of all legislation affecting fundraising within the charity sector will be needed to fulfil the responsibilities of this role.
This is a part-time role with 25 hours per week. Furthermore, the role will be hybrid, with further flexibility on the pattern for the working hours; please note that some weekend work is inevitable & will be required. The core of the role will be based in Galway City, Galway County, and surrounding areas. This role will report to the Board of Trustees for the GSPCA.
THE PERSON
Proven fundraising experience, ideally in the charity sector
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
Self‑motivated, resilient, and able to work independently
Flexible and willing to support the needs of the charity
Willingness to represent the ethos and values of Galway SPCA
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
At least 2–3 years’ experience in fundraising, event management, business development, community engagement, or a related role
Experience planning and delivering fundraising or community events
Proven ability to build relationships with supporters, businesses, or community partners
Strong organisational and reporting skills
Full clean driving licence and access to own vehicle
Desirables
Experience working in the charity or not-for-profit sector
Experience in animal welfare, rescue, or a cause‑led organisation
Familiarity with the Irish Charities Regulators fundraising guidelines
Experience using social media or digital channels to support fundraising
Experience maintaining supporter and/or volunteer records / CRM systems
THE DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
Work with all trustees and the management team to create realistic & clear targets for fundraising
Organise, support and attend fundraising events across the year
Develop and deliver an annual fundraising plan that meets the goals of the charity
Identify, evaluate, and develop fundraising activity across community, corporate, digital, and individual giving channels
Create & develop a database of companies in the Galway region with the aim of creating regular corporate donors
Protect at all times the values, and financial stability of the charity
Manage wider community of supporters through regular communications, acknowledgement, and retention.
Work closely with volunteers, employees, and trustees to promote campaigns across social and digital channels
Maintain and grow a network of volunteers to support with fundraising activities
Share & use any specific skills, knowledge & experience to lead discussions and provide guidance on any new initiatives
Produce monthly updates of fundraising and community activities to be shared with management group and board of trustees
Stay up to date on relevant guidance and regulatory requirements from the Charities Regulator on fundraising, and on GDPR regulations related to volunteer and supporters data – ensuring compliance with the same in all activities
