Social Care Worker - Full-Time, Permanent
Location: Portlaoise & Portarlington, Co. Laois
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Working Hours: 24-hour shift model (includes 9-hour sleepover component)
Salary: €39,776 - €50,160 (depending on experience and qualifications)
A respected provider of residential social care services is seeking committed and compassionate Social Care Workers to join a centre supporting young people seeking international protection. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of vulnerable children and adolescents in a supportive, team-based environment.
The Role
As a Social Care Worker, you'll play a vital part in supporting young residents through structured daily routines, therapeutic care, and personal development. You will work closely with colleagues to provide consistent, trauma-informed care in line with individualised plans.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Delivering direct care and emotional support in a residential setting
2. Promoting wellbeing and independence through therapeutic engagement
3. Assisting with care planning, risk assessment, and reporting
4. Supporting residents with education, daily activities, and life skills
5. Ensuring a safe, inclusive, and respectful living environment
What We're Looking For
Minimum qualifications (Level 7 or higher) in one of the following areas:
6. Social Care / Social Studies
7. Psychology (must be Level 8)
8. Youth and Community Work
9. Counselling Psychotherapy (including Child & Adolescent or Addiction)
10. Social Work / Social Sciences
11. Family Support / Disability Studies
12. Applied Behavioural Analysis
13. Nursing Studies / Applied Policing
14. Higher Certificate in Custodial Care (or equivalent)
15. CORU-registered Social Care Worker (with or without relevant degree)
Essential experience:
16. At least one year working with children or young people in a professional care setting
17. A full driving licence is strongly preferred
