Substance Misuse Healthcare Support Worker - HMP Humber

HMP Humber is a Cat C prison for male adults, providing primary care, GP services, mental health, and substance misuse support.

As a Substance Misuse Healthcare Support Worker, you'll work within a multidisciplinary team, supporting and resource-sharing with other staff. You'll collaborate with the primary care and mental health teams, with ample opportunities for training and development, engaging with interesting patients and acquiring new skills. If you're self-motivated, capable of working autonomously, and proactive in handling diverse situations, this role could be ideal for you. This is a full-time position, working 37.5 hours weekly.

* Venepuncture procedures

Person Specification
Education and Training
* NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or final-year nursing degree student
* Substance Misuse Qualification
Knowledge and Experience
* Experience working with individuals with complex health needs in health or social care
* Knowledge of nursing standards via NVQ or equivalent
* Experience with nursing practices and clinical procedures
* Understanding of confidentiality principles
* Experience in prison or secured environments preferred
* Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
* Emergency response experience
* Proficiency with SystmOne
Skills and Abilities
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Effective team working and conflict mitigation skills
* Ability to undertake delegated tasks and escalate concerns appropriately
* Support patients in managing mental and physical health needs
* Maintain accurate clinical records
* Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office
* Good patient assessment skills
* Extended practice skills such as Phlebotomy, ECG
* Experience with wound care and long-term condition management

This role requires a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, with a submission to the DBS to verify any criminal convictions.
