Automation Engineer – Pharmaceutical Manufacturing (Tipperary)Full-Time | Permanent | Monday–Friday (Day Shift) | On-Site with Flexi TimeA leading pharmaceutical manufacturer in Tipperary is seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to support and enhance site automation systems. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who enjoys being close to operations, resolving real-time issues, and ensuring high reliability across automated equipment and processes.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide daily automation support to manufacturing and packaging operations.Troubleshoot and resolve system issues across PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and automated equipment.Develop, modify, and optimise control system logic, primarily using Allen-Bradley PLC platforms.Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and Quality teams to resolve automation-related issues.Support continuous improvement initiatives, system upgrades, and integration of new automated equipment.Maintain and update system documentation, including software backups, change controls, and validation records.Ensure all automation systems comply with GMP, safety, and regulatory requirements.Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and CAPA activities related to automation faults or deviations.QualificationsDegree in Automation, Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic Engineering or related field.3+ years’ experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (pharma, med device, food, etc.).Strong hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, etc.).Experience with SCADA, HMIs, and control systems troubleshooting.Good understanding of industrial networks and communication protocols.Familiarity with GMP requirements and automation validation.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced operations environment.Excellent communication and documentation abilities.What’s on OfferDay-shift role, Monday to Friday, with flexi time.Opportunity to work with modern automation systems in a highly regulated environment.Visible and impactful role within a growing engineering team.
