Overview of Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Microsoft 365 Security & Compliance Administrator to lead the implementation of security, governance, and compliance initiatives across its Microsoft 365 environment. The organisation supports approximately 1,700 staff and an additional 25,000 users across fifty-three locations and operates within a fully cloud-native, server-less architecture.
The successful candidate will ensure that the Microsoft 365 platform remains secure, compliant, and supports effective collaboration for all users.
Role & Responsibilities
Lead Microsoft 365 security, compliance, and governance initiatives across client sites.
Implement and manage Microsoft 365 security controls including Conditional Access, MFA, RBAC, and identity protection policies.
Configure and manage Microsoft Purview features such as data classification, information protection, retention policies, and DLP.
Monitor and improve the organisation's Microsoft Secure Score and overall security posture.
Deploy and manage Microsoft Defender tools for identity, endpoint, and collaboration protection.
Administer device and endpoint security through Microsoft Intune, including compliance policies and configuration profiles.
Implement Microsoft Sentinel by on-boarding data sources, configuring analytics rules, and developing automation workflows.
Deliver client's Data Classification Programme, including sensitivity labels and governance controls.
Configure and manage Enterprise Applications in Entra ID, including single sign-on (SSO) and consent governance.
Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for Microsoft 365 services, assisting the service desk with escalations.
Manage Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and Intune.
Maintain comprehensive documentation, policies, and governance procedures.
Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure secure, effective M365 collaboration and productivity.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft 365 security, identity, and governance.
In-depth experience configuring Conditional Access, MFA, and related security policies.
Hands-on experience administering Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and Intune.
Proficiency managing Microsoft Purview for data governance, DLP, and classification.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with ability to interpret complex security issues.
Excellent communication skills for engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Familiarity with PowerShell scripting or task automation.
Experience
Minimum of three years administering Microsoft 365 environments.
Proven experience implementing and maintaining Microsoft 365 security and compliance frameworks.
Demonstrated ability to oversee enterprise-level Microsoft 365 tenants in a cloud-first environment.
Experience with Microsoft Defender suite, Intune, and Azure administration (desirable).
Education & Certifications
Relevant Microsoft 365 or Azure certifications (e.g., Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator Associate, Azure Administrator Associate).
Additional security certifications or equivalent experience desirable.
Visa
Irish/EU Citizen or Stamp 4 Visa holder.
