Position Description
We are looking for a Project Engineer with at least 7 years’ experience in delivering engineering projects and project management, ideally in the electricity industry. In support of ESB’s strategic objectives of decarbonising electricity and building resilient infrastructure, you will work with the team in successful delivery of a programme of projects for the ESB Networks business.
Key Responsibilities
Work with the Project Manager to successfully deliver project works applying a high level of safety standards in all aspects of work.
Contractor Management – develop and manage project programmes and monitor and manage contractors’ construction and commissioning schedules.
Overall management of the tender process, including preparation of documents, evaluation and negotiation.
Construction Management.
Management of project interfaces such as procurement, design, free issue material, power cables and telecoms.
Coordination of project requirements into overall ESB/EirGrid outage schedules.
Build relationships with key stakeholders across ESB and in relevant external agencies.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
Seven or more years’ experience in project management/delivery, ideally within the electricity industry.
Level 8 Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
Experience dealing with construction contractors to ensure that they meet specified requirements.
Excellent knowledge of PSDP and PSCS processes.
Excellent understanding of key elements of construction and project management.
Hold a full driving licence and have access to a car.
Flexibility to travel nationwide.
Desirable
Excellent understanding of key elements of high voltage (HV) and electrical design.
Construction experience across a wide range of high voltage engineering projects, e.g., substations, overhead line and underground cable projects.
Project management qualification.
Chartered status or another relevant accreditation.
Location
This position will be based in The Siding, Grand Canal Quay, Dublin 2, or in our Eastgate office in Cork. Travel to site will be an important part of this role.
Work Arrangement

The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in‑person collaboration at least two anchor days per week. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team and the individual.

Compensation
€71,976 to €84,677 per annum.
