Offer description

We require a candidate with an undergraduate honours degree in one or a combination of the following areas: Ecology, Marine Biology, Freshwater Ecology/Hydrology, Environmental Science, etc. A Master's Degree in one of the afore-mentioned and/or a specialist ecological area would be an advantage. The initial duration of the contract is for 6 months and the candidate would be based in our office in Knockbridge, Dundalk, Co. Louth. Field work involves ecological habitat assessment/mapping, bat monitoring (dusk/emergence and continuous), macroinvertebrate assessment, trailcamm management, Ecological Clerk of Work (ECoW) and Environmental Clerk of Works (EnvCoW) tasks on inland (e.g. solar farm, etc) and coastal construction projects. Office based work will involve the preparation of drawings using ArcGIS Pro, Ecological Impact Statementss, Appropriate Assessment/Natura Impact Statements, EIAR, etc. The candidate will be required to assist in Integrated Source Protection Plan (ISPP) field work for lake sourced Group Water Scheme (i.e., flow monitoring, invertebrate kick sampling, etc). The candidate will be required to assist in surface water sampling from a powerboat in an ongoing project in Dublin Port harbour. Processing of samples for analyses and liaison with contract laboratories and processing of COCs, etc will be required. A review of our website will show the extent of the 14 core services that Mulroy Environmental provides to clientele throughout Ireland. We require someone with a full drivers licence and they are required to have their own car which they will need for work. Projects are located in various locations throughout the Rep. of Ireland and Northern Ireland and the candidate must be willing to travel. It is essential that they are comfortable and enjoy working in both an outdoor marine/coastal and inland environment when the weather can sometimes be challenging i.e. during the winter period. Fieldwork experience in terrestrial and/or marine habitat (flora & fauna) assessment, macroinvertebrate assessment (Small Stream), bat monitoring, surface water, soil, groundwater and sampling, use of field sensors/data logging equipment would be an advantage. Also experience of environmental sampling from a powerboat in a marine or a freshwater setting would be advantageous. IT experience in ArcGIS Pro/QGIS, ArcGIS Field Survey, 3D mapping, bat monitoring software (i.e., Kaleidoscope), BricsCAD, etc would be advantageous. Competency in MS Word, MS Excel and data management is required. Candidates will be required to do Safepass, Manual Handling training and RYA Powerboat II courses. Extensive in-house training will be provided on other areas such as Drone piloting, Dronedeploy photogrammetric 2D/3D modelling software, etc..
