Head Receptionist
The award winning 4-star Bloomfield House Hotel, Leisure Club & Spa in Mullingar, located on the shores of Lough Ennell, with 111 bedrooms has an exciting opportunity for a Head Receptionist who will be an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our dynamic team.
The Role
This is a full-time, hands-on leadership role suited to someone with strong customer service skills, excellent attention to detail and a passion for hospitality. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years experience working on a busy hotel reception desk and be comfortable working across a 7-day week roster, including mornings, evenings and weekends. The Role:
Key Duties of the Role
* Oversee the day-to-day operations of the front office, ensuring smooth check-in and check-out procedures.
* Manage and lead the reception team, including scheduling, training, and performance reviews.
* Deliver exceptional guest service by maintaining high standards of professionalism and hospitality.
* Handle guest complaints and feedback promptly and effectively, ensuring guest satisfaction.
* Ensure accurate handling of reservations, room allocations, billing, and cash procedures.
* Monitor front desk operations to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and service standards.
* Work closely with other departments (e.g. Housekeeping, Sales, Maintenance) to coordinate guest services and room readiness.
* Maintain a strong presence in the lobby/front office area to support the team and engage with guests.
* Prepare front office reports, monitor KPIs, and contribute to achieving occupancy and revenue targets.
* Manage stock and supplies for the front office area, including stationery and guest amenities.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and fire procedures in the front office area.
* Drive upselling and cross-selling initiatives to maximise revenue opportunities.
* Ensure the telephones are answered promptly and in a friendly manner to the agreed standard.
* Cover reception shifts.
Requirements for this position
* Minimum 2 years experience working on a busy hotel reception desk
* Strong spoken and written English essential; additional languages an advantage.
* Proficient in hotel reservation systems and general computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, etc.).
* The ability to be self-motivated and creative in generating new ideas and systems.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proven ability to lead a team and remain calm under pressure.
* Strong problem-solving abilities and a customer-first mindset.
* High level of organisation and attention to detail.
* Flexibility to work morning, evening and weekends as part of a 7-day roster.
* Professional appearance and a friendly, welcoming attitude.
* Knowledge of GDPR and front desk procedures is a plus.
