The Role
Uisce Éireann IT (UÉ IT) provides IT services and support to the wider Irish Water business, and across the Local Authority user base.
Reporting to the AI Delivery Senior Manager the AI Business Analyst Manager will play a key role in supporting Uisce Éireann's ambition to harness emerging technologies to deliver secure, sustainable, and transformative services for our customers and communities.
Working as part of the IT function, this role will act as the central conduit between business stakeholders and AI delivery teams, ensuring AI-related needs are clearly understood, appropriately assessed, and aligned to organisational priorities.
The successful candidate will manage the end-to-end AI demand intake process, provide expert guidance on requirements and solution options, and support the governance and delivery of AI initiatives that enable improved operational performance and customer outcomes.
Through strong collaboration, structured analysis, and adherence to responsible-AI and data governance principles, the AI Business Analyst Manager will help shape the strategic development of AI capabilities across Uisce Éireann and contribute to our wider digital transformation journey.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Act as the primary point of contact for new AI-related requests from across the business, managing the full intake and triage process.
Engage with business stakeholders to capture, clarify, and interpret AI needs, ensuring a clear understanding of objectives, constraints, data availability, and expected value.
Build a close relationship with the Enterprise Architecture team within IT in terms of understanding AI related asks coming from the business and ensure alignment of approach to demand management.
Assess feasibility, complexity, risks, and alignment to organisational strategy for each AI demand, supporting transparent prioritisation and routing to the appropriate delivery teams.
Maintain and evolve the AI demand pipeline, ensuring all requests are tracked, assessed, and progressed in a consistent and auditable manner.
Lead discovery workshops to understand business problems and identify where AI, automation, or data-driven solutions can generate measurable value.
Translate business requirements into clear functional specifications, user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria for AI initiatives.
Work closely with Solution & Data Architecture; Vendor, Performance & Governance, and AI Engineering teams to scope viable solution options, ensuring business needs, constraints, and outcome expectations are represented.
Support programme-level governance by preparing business cases, value assessments, risk summaries, and prioritisation recommendations for AI initiatives.
Partner with IT and AI delivery teams throughout solution design, development, and deployment, ensuring requirements remain aligned and issues are escalated promptly.
Validate that AI solutions meet acceptance criteria, including ethical, regulatory, and data quality considerations, before sign off.
Contribute to post-implementation reviews to ensure lessons learned inform future AI delivery cycles.
Build strong working relationships with business units to promote awareness of AI capabilities and identify opportunities for innovation.
Communicate complex AI concepts in a clear, structured, and accessible way to non-technical stakeholders.
Support change management activities including readiness assessments, training coordination, and communication planning for AI solution rollouts.
Ensure AI initiatives adhere to organisational policies, responsible-AI principles, data governance standards, and compliance requirements.
Contribute to the development of frameworks, playbooks, templates, and processes that standardise AI discovery, assessment, and delivery across the organisation.
Act as an internal consultant to promote high-quality requirements management, value assessment, and best-practice use of AI technologies.
Monitor external AI trends, tools, and methodologies to inform internal strategy and capability development.
Recommend continuous improvements to the AI intake, assessment, and delivery lifecycle.
Support capability uplift across the business by contributing to AI education, awareness sessions, and community of practice activities.
Other duties as required from time to time.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business.
Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards.
Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives.
Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Éireann's Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation.
Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Relevant third level degree or equivalent with a minimum of three years' experience in business analysis, digital transformation, AI solution delivery, or a closely related discipline.
Experience working in sectors such as utilities, telecommunications, financial services, or other regulated environments is desirable.
Strong background in gathering, analysing, and translating business requirements into structured documentation including functional specifications, user stories, and process flows.
Demonstrated experience in assessing solution options, evaluating complexity, and contributing to value assessments and business cases.
Understanding of AI, data, and automation technologies, including their capabilities, limitations, risks, and governance considerations.
Familiarity with responsible-AI principles, data quality standards, and data governance frameworks is highly desirable.
Experience contributing to or supporting delivery of technology or data-driven projects, ideally involving cross-functional teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and propose practical, value-driven solutions.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and accessible way.
Ability to work collaboratively across business and technical teams, building strong relationships that support effective decision-making and successful delivery.
Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent work items, prioritise effectively, and maintain high standards of performance.
Commercial awareness and the ability to align recommendations with organisational strategy and financial considerations.
Commitment to maintaining and developing professional knowledge in emerging AI trends, tools, delivery methodologies, and best practice.
Desire to maintain specialised knowledge through association with defined professionals.
