Job Purpose

The General Operative plays a key role in supporting the efficient and safe production of high-quality food products. This position involves a range of manual and operational tasks within the production facility, ensuring that all processes meet company standards for safety, quality, and efficiency. The role requires adherence to strict food safety regulations, as well as a proactive approach to maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Line Support:
Assist with the assembly, packaging, and processing of food products, ensuring compliance with HACCP procedures and FSAI regulations.
2. Quality Control:
Monitor product quality, ensuring adherence to FSAI food safety guidelines, including allergen control, labelling, and traceability.
3. Health and Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all company health, safety, and food hygiene regulations, ensuring compliance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005. Maintain a safe work environment, report hazards, and follow risk assessments and safety protocols.
4. Hygiene and Allergen Control:
Follow all hygiene protocols and prevent cross-contamination, especially in relation to allergens, in compliance with EU food labelling regulations.
5. Training:
Complete all necessary training in food safety, hygiene, and allergens, and adhere to HACCP principles. Ongoing training will be provided to ensure continued compliance with industry standards.
6. Stock Management:
Assist in the accurate counting, storage, and handling of raw materials, ingredients, and finished products to ensure inventory is maintained and production targets are met.
7. Cleaning and Maintenance:
Carry out cleaning and sanitization tasks in accordance with food safety standards, including cleaning machinery, tools, and work areas.
8. Team Collaboration:
Work closely with other team members, supervisors, and department leaders to meet production goals and resolve any operational issues.
9. Continuous Improvement:
Suggest process improvements and participate in training and development initiatives to improve skills and enhance production efficiency.
