Purpose of Position The Director of Information, Technology and Innovation, provides both operational and strategic leadership for the College's technology infrastructure, enterprise information systems and digital innovation. The role is responsible for aligning technology and digital innovation with institutional strategy, enhancing the student and staff experience, and ensuring secure, resilient, and future-focused information and digital services that support teaching, learning, research, and operations. This senior leadership role will drive institutional digital transformation aligned with strategic objectives, supported by effective IT governance, and will include the strategic adoption of AI and automation, while ensuring the robustness and reliability of day-to-day Networks and IT operations. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team and reporting to the Director of Finance, this role is central to ensuring that the College's data, systems, and digital capabilities support NCI's future growth. The role holder will lead a high-performing team of IT professionals, including two senior managers. Effective optimisation of budget, resources, and technology investments is essential aligned with meeting academic, research and operational innovation and decision-making. Key Relationships: President Senior Leadership Team, with a specific focus on Deans and Registrar Professional Support Services including HR, Finance, Library Services, On-line programming and Student Services across the College External Software Vendors and Technology Partners including HEA and QQI. Key Responsibilities: Operational Leadership of IT Services Provide strategic leadership and oversight of IT services and infrastructure. Lead system performance, resilience, continuity planning and continuous improvement. Envisage and deliver critical data sets for institutional decision making. Governance, Compliance & Risk Management Maintain robust digital governance, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, risk mitigation and reporting obligations. Lead institutional approaches to cybersecurity, data protection, and digital risk management, including risks associated with emerging technologies and AI. Digital Leadership & Transformation to enable Strategic Objectives Develop institutional IT Strategy, aligned with academic and operational strategy. Implement enhanced institutional performance through AI, automation and emerging technologies. Envisage and align digital investment, innovation, and risk within budgets. Teaching, Learning & Student Experience Plan and execute innovation in technology-enhanced learning in line with academic and student needs. Enhance student engagement and experience through the student digital journey. Change Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement Lead complex organisational change associated with digital transformation. Foster collaboration throughout the institution to champion innovation and digital adoption. Vendor, Investment & Resource Management Lead technology investment planning, budgeting, and business case development to ensure value-driven technology delivery. Manage vendor partnerships, procurement, and contract oversight. Leadership & Team Development Lead, develop, and inspire IT team to build institutional digital capability. Promote a culture of innovation, service excellence, and continuous improvement through professional development and talent management. Person Specification: Significant senior leadership experience within a higher education or complex organisational environment. Demonstrated success leading institution-wide digital transformation and systems optimisation initiatives. Strong expertise in enterprise systems, governance frameworks, and technology-enabled process improvement. Proven ability to align digital strategy with academic, operational, and institutional priorities. Experience leading organisational change, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional initiatives. Experience managing vendor relationships, procurement processes, and technology investment planning. Strong understanding of digital risk, AI, cybersecurity and compliance. Qualifications Required: Minimum of master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related discipline.
