Orwell Private includes Convalescence, Long Term Care, and an Acquired Brain Injury Unit.
Our second location, Orwell Queen of Peace specializes in Long Term Care.Our vision is to provide a continuum of care in a friendly, homely but luxurious environment - right in the heart of your own neighbourhood.
This continuum is made up of residential long and short-term care, Acquired Brain Injury Care, Dementia Care and Respite Care, along with a wide variety of conditions.
A friendly and supportive home care service is also provided for our more independent and self-reliant clients.Orwell Healthcare has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Chef, to join our Kitchen Team.
We have recently opened new units in Long Term Care, Short Term Care, Convalescence and Acquired Brain Injury.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop within our organisation.Our Kitchen operates seven days a week from ***** to *****.
This role requires a flexible shift roster over seven days.The successful candidate will work as a member of the Kitchen Team, reporting directly to the Head Chef.
You will work with the clinical team in terms of nutritional requirements and special diets, statutory regulations in relation to food preparation (HACCP records and training and Liaising with EHO and DCC FOG), Health and Safety Regulations and the HIQA standards.Main Purpose of the Role:To maintain a level of professional integrity in accordance with Orwell Healthcare policies and procedures, employment contract, philosophy of care and mission statement.To perform duties in the designated area of work as determined by the Management.To directly enhance the resident experience at Orwell Healthcare through maintaining and ensuring a high standard of work.To comply fully with the Kitchen SOP, checklists, schedules, tasks and in turn contribute to the residents' expectations.To comply fully with all HACCP regulations and maintain an up to date minimum level 2 HACCP qualificationTo comply with the Orwell Healthcare incident and accident reporting procedure.To comply with all legal requirements that the Orwell Healthcare is bound by.Professional Development: Demonstrate a willingness of professional development in view of continuous performance appraisals.ResponsibilitiesAlways maintain confidentiality of Orwell Healthcare information and residents.Assist in ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and all preventative and recording procedures are applied.Notify the management of any resident complaints/concerns so they can be dealt with efficiently and effectively.Be aware of the security of Orwell Healthcare always, both in terms of access to the Orwell Healthcare property and the residents' property.
Ensure all windows/doors/fridges/stores are locked before you leave the property.Assist when needed with the transportation of food and goods to any other premises belonging to Orwell.Duties of Chef:Be responsible for the production, presentation and service of food to a high standard.Prepare food in accordance with the agreed standard recipes & menu specifications.Cater, as required, for the special needs and dietary requirements of residents.Assist with the receipt and delivery of food to the kitchens in Orwell Healthcare and to Orwell Queen of Peace.Assist with receiving food deliveries to the kitchen, check quality and maintain accurate records of batch codes etc.Ensure kitchen stock is efficiently and effectively managed.Ensure the provision of a wide and varied choice of menu, in consultation with the Catering Manager and Senior Chef whilst controlling and minimising wastage.Cater for events outside of normal working hours when required.Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene within the kitchen and kitchenette and ensure both areas are left clean before finishing duty each day.Always wear the appropriate uniform and only jewellery recommended including appropriate hair covering and safety clothing and use the appropriate kitchen staff toilet facilities.Participate in staff development and in-service training relevant to the post as may be organised from time to time.Participate in staff meetings as required.Contribute to a team environment in the department and ensure that is supportive and considerate towards others in your team.Prepare food for sale in The Cafe and ensure correct labelling.
