Position Details
The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Secretariat General (SG) – Economic Department (ECON) at its headquarters in Luxembourg for a TRAINEE position.
Duration: 6 months (fixed start date: 1st September 2025)

Objective of the Traineeship
The traineeship has two main objectives:
1. To contribute to analytical work by developing and managing large macroeconomic, microeconomic, and financial databases, and assisting economists with econometric and statistical analysis for reports, policy briefs, and economic news summaries. This role requires a Master of Science degree or enrollment in a PhD program in economics or finance.
2. To gain valuable professional experience by working in an international financial institution, gaining insights into economic, financial, and policy analysis, and understanding the functioning of the EIB.
Responsibilities
Under supervision, you will work on various projects including database management, econometric and statistical analysis for reports, economic news summaries, policy briefs, country reports, surveys, risk models, and macroeconomic scenarios.
Main Tasks
* Extract, prepare, and manage large datasets for analysis.
* Prepare descriptive statistics, charts, tables, and short reports.
* Collaborate with economists on developing econometric and statistical models.
* Assist in interpreting analysis results and preparing contributions to reports and briefs.
Academic Qualifications and Skills
* Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, or data science; MSc or enrollment in PhD preferred.
* Proficiency with statistical software such as Stata, R, or Python.
* Good knowledge of applied economics, finance, or econometric methods.
* Experience with large databases is an advantage.
* Experience or studies related to firm dynamics, investment, or financial sector performance are a plus.
* Strong analytical skills and clear communication of results.
* Excellent English language skills.
