Mechanical Estimator Dublin We are recruiting for a leading mechanical and MEP contractor in Dublin seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator.
This is a key commercial role responsible for managing the tendering process for high-value projects across the pharmaceutical, data centre, and commercial sectors.
The successful candidate will join a high-performing pre-construction team, playing a vital role in securing new business and ensuring accurate cost certainty for the firms project portfolio.
Core Responsibilities Tendering & Bidding: Lead the preparation and submission of comprehensive mechanical tenders, ensuring all technical and commercial requirements are met within strict deadlines.
Take-offs & Measurement: Conduct detailed take-offs from 2 D drawings and 3 D models using specialist estimating software (e.g., Trimble, Bluebeam, or Estimation).
Cost Analysis: Develop detailed cost estimates covering plant, materials, direct labour, and sub-contractor packages.
Procurement & Negotiation: Liaise with suppliers and specialist sub-contractors to obtain competitive quotes, conducting technical appraisals to ensure compliance with project specifications.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Design and Project Management teams to identify value engineering opportunities and risk mitigation strategies.
Reporting: Prepare and present tender summaries and margin analysis for senior management review during the final adjudication phase.
Candidate Profile Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a Senior Trade background (Plumbing/Pipefitting) with significant experience in a commercial/estimating role.
Experience: 36+ years of experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the Irish contracting market.
Technical Skills: Expert proficiency in mechanical estimating software and a strong command of Microsoft Excel.
Knowledge: Deep understanding of HVAC systems, process piping, and industrial mechanical services.
Attributes: Highly analytical with meticulous attention to detail and excellent negotiation skills.
Compensation Salary Range: €65,000 €85,000 per annum
