We are a Galway-based, family-owned and managed company providing waste collection services across the domestic, commercial, industrial, and building sectors. Our complete waste management service incorporates the collection and safe disposal of solid and liquid waste. The company employs over 80 team members and, due to continued investment and expansion, we are now recruiting an experienced and professional Heavy Equipment Operator to support our organisation.
Reports to
The Heavy Equipment Operator will report to the Solid Waste Operations Manager.
Job Overview
The successful candidate will work in our materials recovery facility as part of a team responsible for the segregation and loading of incoming and outgoing waste material.
Key Responsibilities
* Segregate incoming waste material using a materials handler equipped with a sorting grab into stockpiles.
* Load waste into walking floor trailers for outbound transport using a materials handler.
* Operate loading lines for waste segregation with a materials handler.
* Load trucks and trailers with waste using a loading shovel.
* Shunt trailers on-site as required.
* Perform regular maintenance on all machinery in the MRF.
* Work collaboratively with the team and understand the job system.
Experience and Qualifications
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in the waste, recycling, or construction industry.
* Good time management skills and ability to work independently.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Full clean driving license; C and C1 licenses are a plus but not essential.
* Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling Certificates.
* Valid CSCS Card (360 Excavator) is essential; other construction tickets are advantageous.
* Comfortable operating equipment ranging from 5.0T to 25T.
