Applications are invited for the position of General Manager (Rosslare Europort) at Iarnród Éireann.
Job Purpose
Reporting to the Director of Commercial Business Units at Iarnród Éireann, the General Manager Rosslare Europort is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, management, and strategic development of the port. The GM ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective port operations while delivering high customer satisfaction, profitability, and compliance with relevant regulations. The role requires a dynamic leader with extensive senior experience in transport, port management, logistics, and/or operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee and lead all operational, safety, commercial, and customer experience aspects of the port.
* Achieve strategic goals including port growth, infrastructure development, operational efficiency, and safety management.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with port stakeholders such as shipping companies, government agencies, and local businesses.
* Ensure compliance with national and international port safety and environmental regulations.
* Drive the development of Smart Port technologies and customer-first strategies.
* Manage and develop a high-performing team aligned with Iarnród Éireann’s core values.
* Report regularly on performance metrics and strategic progress.
Qualifications and Experience
* Degree in Business, Transport, Logistics, Operations, Finance, or a related field.
* A Masters’ degree in the relevant subject area.
* Minimum of 10+ years of senior experience in transport, logistics, freight, or port industries.
* Experience managing or directing sizeable transport, logistics, operations, freight, or port businesses.
* Experience in transport, logistics, and/or port safety management and operations.
* Experience in setting and implementing strategic agendas.
* Strong leadership, managerial, and communication skills, with the ability to resolve personnel and technical challenges.
* Ability to influence key stakeholder groups within the sector.
* A passion for customer experience and commercial growth.
* Leadership and change management skills.
* Operational and safety excellence.
* Commercial acumen and customer focus.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
