The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our HR team at a pivotal time in Grant Thornton's growth. We are seeking a HR Business Partner with strong strategic acumen, deep commercial awareness, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across a complex, high-growth organisation.

This role goes beyond day-to-day HR delivery. The successful candidate will play a key part in shaping and executing our People Strategy, partnering closely with leaders to drive organisational performance, build future capability, and enable a high-performing, inclusive culture.

You will bring strong personal credibility, sound judgement, and an ability to challenge constructively. You will thrive in a dynamic environment and have a track record of using data and insight to inform decision-making, optimise processes, and deliver meaningful business outcomes.

This is a highly visible and impactful opportunity, offering the scope to influence firmwide priorities and contribute to the evolution of a world-class People function.

Main Responsibilities

* Act as a strategic partner to designated business units, using data, insight, and market trends to shape workforce planning, talent strategies, and organisational priorities.
* Build trusted advisor relationships with senior leaders and people managers, influencing decisions in alignment with firmwide strategy, culture, and long-term talent objectives.
* Drive strategic people initiatives, ensuring alignment with the Firm's People Strategy and contributing to the development of future capability across the business.
* Lead and embed People processes and frameworks (e.g. performance, talent, succession, engagement) ensuring consistency, fairness, and a focus on continuous improvement.
* Play a key role in change initiatives, supporting transformation projects, organisational design discussions, and firmwide change programmes.
* Partner cross-functionally across HR, ensuring a seamless and impactful People experience—leveraging Centres of Excellence, People Operations, Learning and Talent teams.
* Act as a change champion for post-transition adoption of Oracle, supporting leaders and employees in embedding the new system, optimising its use, and driving engagement across assigned business areas.
* Ensure policies, procedures, and initiatives are future-focused, compliant with evolving legislation, and reflective of best practice in a modern, progressive HR environment.
* Identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency, supporting the Firm's commitment to continuous improvement, digital enablement, and enhanced People experience.

Skills and attributes

* 7+ years' experience in a HR Business Partner role with demonstrable strategic impact
* Strong business and commercial acumen, with an ability to translate business goals into aligned People initiatives
* Deep understanding of HR best practice, organisational effectiveness, and talent management
* Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage senior leaders
* Proven ability to deliver in a fast-paced, agile environment while maintaining high standards
* Strong analytical capability and ability to use data to guide decisions
* Degree in HR or related discipline; CIPD qualification desirable

Desirable

* Experience in professional services or other highly matrixed environments
* Previous experience with Oracle or involvement in HRIS transitions

Life at GT

Reward and benefits

Our reward and benefits are designed to create an environment where our people can flourish. We are committed to building a culture where our people have access to the necessary benefits to help promote a healthy lifestyle and thrive.

Equity, diversity and inclusion

At Grant Thornton, we provide equitable opportunities for all our colleagues. We are a responsible, sustainable business where equity, diversity and inclusion (ED&I) is at the forefront of our workplace culture agenda, and today, we continue to build and develop on our existing ED&I structure and strategy to meet our workplace culture needs. People are at the heart of our business and teams built with varied backgrounds, racial differences, cultures, sexual orientations, religious orientations, ages, gender identities, abilities and family types present diverse viewpoints, which need to be heard and valued.

We are all at our best when we are able to be ourselves and we view integrity and authenticity as integral values to bring to our day-to-day work-life at the firm. We are excited to see the personality and perspectives you will bring to our team because we know we will all benefit from them. Diversity of thought, background and experience enables better decision-making, improves the quality of our delivery, and helps us to meet the needs of our clients. Our firm is built on people and their ideas, so we want to hear all the new perspectives and fresh thinking you have to offer. You form the bedrock of our firm's best-practice principles and we will champion you as leaders from day one.

Recognition

We want to create a culture of recognition and celebrating success, by saying thank you to people who surpass our expectations and recognising the right values and behaviours. Our Shout Out recognition scheme is our way of highlighting and promoting achievements. Whether you simply want to say thank you, celebrate a special occasion or give an award for doing something exceptional, you can do all of this and more through the scheme.
