Head of Legal
Brightwater Executive is delighted to be partnering with a leading cross border international life and investment organisation, operating and distributing across multiple pan-European locations in their search for a Head of Legal.
About the Position
Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, this Head of Legal will provide expert legal advice, ensure compliance with industry regulations, and mitigate key legal risks while leading a small legal team.
* Lead and manage the legal team, providing strategic direction and oversight.
* Advise the Board and senior management on regulatory compliance, governance, and legal risk.
* Prepare and present legal reports to the Board and senior management.
* Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and legal documents.
* Coordinate with external legal counsel as needed.
* Manage relationships with regulatory bodies and industry forums.
* Identify and mitigate legal risks within operations and transactions.
Experience/Requirements
* Qualified solicitor or barrister with 7-10 years’ post-qualification experience (legal firm or in-house function with strong experience in insurance/ asset management (cross border /FoS).
* European cross-border insurance or life assurance experience is an advantageous.
* Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
* Ability to offer a pragmatic, balanced perspective and proactive support of business opportunities.
