Job Description
The Public Sector Organisation is a government office responsible for delivering public services. Our team works on drainage schemes and critical infrastructure projects, managing government properties and heritage services. We are overseen by the Minister of State at the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform.
We maintain arterial drainage schemes and construct flood defence schemes using a direct managed works model. These schemes are consented under either the Planning and Development Act or the Arterial Drainage Act.
Safety Officer Responsibilities
* Familiarise yourself with relevant Health and Safety Legislation affecting construction work types;
* Identify hazards and assess risks on site;
* Advise supervisors on appropriate control measures and systems of work to minimise risk;
* Communicate Health and Safety requirements to managers, supervisors, and workers on site;
* Make recommendations on Health and Safety and request changes to practices on site through the site supervisor;
* Take corrective action on site up to suspension of work where there is a serious risk of accident or injury (the Engineer in charge must be informed).
Required Skills and Qualifications
* A Level 7 Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety is an essential minimum requirement. A Level 8 Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety is desirable.
* No less than three years of satisfactory experience of construction work and knowledge of construction methods, site management, and construction design process.
* Current Safe Pass Card, valid driving licence, use of own transport.
* Comprehensive knowledge of construction and general health and safety management systems (ISO 45001:2018);
* Computer-literate and possess necessary IT skills to carry out duties;
* Possess high level of interpersonal and communication skills.
