We are currently recruiting a Temporary Assistant Director of Nursing (Mental Health) on behalf of a reputable client based in Dublin.
The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, person-centred mental health nursing care in line with professional, ethical, and organisational standards.
Contract Type: Temporary (6 months), Full-Time Working Hours: Rostered shift pattern of 78 hours per fortnight.
Participation in a weekend on-call rota is required.
From time to time, the organisation may require out-of-hours and/or night duty cover.
Key Responsibilities Support the Director of Nursing in achieving the organisation's strategic objectives and ensuring the effective day-to-day operation of the hospital.
Provide clinical leadership and oversight to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and person-centred mental health care.
Lead and support clinical governance, quality improvement, and risk management initiatives in line with national standards and legislation.
Ensure compliance with Mental Health Commission requirements and all relevant regulatory and statutory obligations.
Promote and uphold care that respects the dignity, autonomy, and rights of all residents and service users.
Provide strong leadership, supervision, and support to nursing staff, fostering professional development and a positive clinical culture.
Inspire, motivate, and influence teams to achieve high standards of care, performance, and accountability.
Contribute strategically to service development, operational planning, and the implementation of change management initiatives.
Identify, analyse, and manage clinical and organisational risks, applying effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, effective, and holistic care delivery Requirements Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) with current registration on the Nursing Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) register.
A minimum of seven years' post-registration nursing experience, including at least three years' experience in adult mental health services.
Demonstrated recent and substantial acute clinical and senior management experience in both Mental Health and Care of the Older Person services in Ireland.
Experience working in a healthcare or hospital setting, including acute mental health care environments.
Clinical experience in the management of medical conditions and in palliative care.
Extensive experience in staff management, budgetary control, and workforce planning.
In-depth knowledge of Mental Health Commission requirements, clinical leadership, and governance frameworks.
Strong ability to lead, teach, manage, and actively participate in the practice education of students and registered nurses, with a commitment to training, mentoring, and professional support.
Comprehensive knowledge and experience of health and safety legislation and other statutory regulations impacting healthcare organisations.
Evidence of ongoing continuing professional development (CPD).
