Role Purpose
- Embed a return on investment (ROI) focus across your key stakeholder group, supporting the prioritisation of initiatives/capital allocation towards projects with the greatest financial return.
- Drive consistency on ROI measurement through the creation of a standardized ROI Framework and establish insightful, data-driven financial analysis, especially on CAPEX.
- Demonstrate understanding of the CarTrawler business model, assessing how product changes impact financial metrics and understanding the ripple effects of decisions across business lines.
- Represent Finance in cross-functional forums, building relationships with key stakeholders and providing financial insights to influence decision-making.
- Use analytical skills and curiosity to find data that delivers actionable insights, communicating findings effectively to stakeholders to inform actions and results.
Reporting to: Snr Commercial Finance Manager
Main Accountabilities and Tasks:
1. Create an investment appraisal framework for informed decision-making, including measuring ROI, setting hurdle rates, and assessing risks.
2. Embed and refine this framework within the business, developing communication plans and support materials for stakeholder education and adoption.
3. Act as a trusted advisor to decision-makers, ensuring a consistent approach to ROI assessment.
4. Develop a process for in-life cost tracking, monitoring investment performance, and communicating insights for ongoing decision-making.
5. Lead the review and improvement of the R&D cost tracking process to enhance efficiency and data accuracy.
6. Establish processes to support the ROI framework, such as identifying 'fast fail' projects.
7. Meet stakeholder reporting requirements on R&D spend and CAPEX, providing insightful reports and stakeholder education.
8. Support the annual business plan, especially for P&T and Data Science, assessing R&D cost assumptions and investment returns.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Professional accountancy qualification (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) with at least 2+ years PQE and 1+ years in a similar finance role.
- Strong financial analysis skills with the ability to extract actionable insights.
- Self-motivated with curiosity about business drivers.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of simplifying complex data.
- Experience in high-impact presentations and influencing senior management.
- Creative thinking with a strategic outlook to identify opportunities and future implications.
- Effective stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
